I usually get around 70-80. The real trick is to make sure to set your burning software to data instead of audio. As audio, you will only get 80 minutes. As data, you will get 700 mb--that's a huge difference. Check your file sizes and see how much more you'll be getting when you burn as data. Compression does play a role, but burn mode is the biggest factor.

Hope this helps...

You get 650 or 700 megabytes in either case.

MP3s are compressed. We'll say for the sake of argument here, 5 megabytes per song. That's roughly 140 (700 / 5) MP3s on a single disc.

What you, drgonz, are doing is converting it from MP3 to WAV, which is completely uncompressed. We'll say for the sake of argument here, 35 megabytes per song. That's roughly 20 (700 / 35) songs per CD.

On the upside, your WAV CD can be played on most any device, whereas her MP3 CD requires a device with an MP3 codec to play it.

Strange, I was using Easy CD Creator a year ago, and when I burned MP3s in audio mode. the songs were still compressed, still in mp3 format, and still not readable by normal audio devices, yet I only got 80 minutes worth. So, while I see what you are saying, I don't think that it is always so.

Either way, I use Toast Titanium now, and it takes all the effort out of disk burning.

yes, you can compress the files even further but this will be at the expense of audio quality. Re-coding .mp3 to lower bitrates (or other formats) will result in data-loss and there will be, essentially, parts of the music missing. If this doesnt bother you and you are more interested smaller file sizes, then do it.

Shit man. I have an mp3 cd player in my car and I usually get upwards of 100+ mp3's at 128kb, or 5+ full length CD's.

Ok, I just burned 175 mp3's onto a CD-R, and it won't play in my car, it just stays on track 1 and no music plays. My car is a 2001, and the girl I was burning this CD for has a 2005, do you think her CD player will be able to play it?

Unless you and your friend have a cd player in your car that reads mp3 cds, you won't hear anything.

Do you and your friend have factory cd players in your cars?

If it's a factory player older than, I'd say probably 2004, it will not play MP3 cds. It has to say it on the front, like mine does, and like your lady friend's does.

If it says MP3 on the front, you have nothing to worry about. She'll be rockin in no time.

That's cool man.

In my car it just sticks on track one and plays dead air, but again I have a stock 2001 chevy headunit. I think when she sees 172 songs on one CD she may get a lil wet...

OH YEA MAN SHE IS GOING TO GET REAL NICE AND WET FOR THOSE HAWT MUSIC TRACKS.

I got a kickass alpine head unit that plays mp3's. I can usually fit around 10-12 albums onto a cd. Its pretty sweet because you split everything into folders and flip back and forth from one album to the next.

Most stock factory units won't play it. It is becoming a trend now to have an mp3 cd player. I put one in my car, and I can get about 6-7 albums at 192kbps. They're really handy.
