Heating The Terrarium
    #3692633 - 01/28/05 10:17 AM (12 years, 10 months ago)

I will be using a ten gallon fish tank as a terrarium to fruit three cakes. They are going to be in a controlled enviroment inside of a particulary cold area. Probably around 45-60 degrees depending on the outside temperature. What would be the best way to heat them, should i use a heating pad, or would that work efficiently? Im going to buy my stuff and test it first to get the right enviroment i want, but i don't want to buy a bunch of stuff i don't need, and i want to know what to buy. Any past experiences on heating up terrariums would be hotness.

Heating a glass aquarium with the heating pad would be a good route. If you decide to built a TnT fruiting chamber, the aquarium heater is even better for steady temps.

I'd never give up my heating pad. Had it for years! Works like a champ with mushrooms and clones. Just happens to be that the same temps. are needed for incubating mushroom spores, and for rooting cuttings.
If your gonna use a pad, stay away from cheap one's. You get what you pay for in the end. Alot folks who go this route pick'em up at pet stores and the like. I got mine from a hydroponic store.
Good luck!
