amanita in pa?

while roaming in in a neighbors backyard , i saw a what appeared to be an amanita sprouting under a tree , i didnt take notice to the tree, i guess i should have, i live in se pa , do they grow here?

Yeah, they grow here. No red caps, just orangish-yellow ones. They are just coming into season now, and you will find them under various ever green trees, depending on your location. As soon as we get some rain again, they will be sprouting up like crazy. Make sure you ID them properly, and remember, the color of the caps fade to white after a few days, especially if it rains, but DON'T EVER pick an Amanita that is white, even if you think it's a faded muscara, it's way too dangerous to take any risks like that. If you have any doubts about positive ID, leave it alone. I am in Bucks and Del Co. and they are all around this area, as well as laughing Gyms, PM me if you have any questions.
