I was walking across my lawn today to get my mail and found these shroomies under a tree in the shade. I have an automatic sprinkle system that waters the lawn overnight so it is a pretty good environment for them. Its pretty hot now I live in Massachusetts. Pash420

The top pic seems to show bluing at the stem base, that's good. What color is the sporeprint? Looks like some type of panaeolus, but I'm just guessing.Look for more and get some more photos if possible. Oh yeah, and wait for some of the other folks here to help you I.D. it besides myself. doo

I can also see some bluing where it looks like you pinched the stem. Definately looks active, and likely a Panaeolus like doo said. What color print does it drop?

L K, those mushrooms look very similiar to what GGreatOne and Mitchnast were finding in turf areas earlier this year, the Pan. casteneifolius or olivaceus. Of course I've only seen photos of these mushrooms, I've never been lucky enough to find'em growing in my yard : ( I think you may have something there Pash. doo

Hey pash420, Im not too sure what those are..doyou have any other pictures of them? ifya do id like to seeum. Doo I still havent got a 100% positive i.d. on some of the shrooms I was finding in the lawns last March. I used Psilocybe Mushrooms of the World to aid in matching-up a pratically exact description to Panaeolus castaneifolius. -Also I sent four (4) spore prints of those mushrooms to SporeWorks to be worked on many months ago and have heard nothing of them ever being grown or "worked" on. And if you bust out mjshroomers A List of the Known Psilocybian Mushrooms its going to tell you; "Panaeolus castaneifolius (Murrill) A.H. (=?P. olivaceus F. H. Moller; Panaeolina castaneifolia (Murrill) Bon; P. castaneifolia (Murrill) We. Gerhardt, this latest seems the true name, see Gerhardt, 1996)" Another possibility is Copelandia chlorocystis Copelandia chlorocystis=Panaeolus chlorocystis Put that into your pipe and smoke it. SUCKA lol.......

probably Panaeolina foensecii it is one of the most common mushrooms on lawns. But it could also be some type of lawn Psathyrella, many of them are impossible to tell the difference without a microscope. Your picture is useless. if you put a magnifine glass in front of the lens, one might be able to tell from the pictures weather the musroom is a foensecii. The pocket guide audubon society book on familiar mushrooms has a very clear picutre of a foensecii mushroom. You have seen them before many times but were unware of it. Also, simon and shusters guide to mushrooms has a good picture. Look at the mushroom very carefully. Most if not all foenisecii mushrooms are currently inactive according to Gartz. pinactive. .
