I have one of the DirecTV TiVO series 2 units. You have to take the hard drive out and put into a computer to install some basic utilities. Once that is done you buy a compatible usb network card and plug into the usb port on your TiVO. It helps to know linux if you want to do everything yourself, but they have some guides out there if you dont. Once all this is done you just load the program on the pc to download the video, strip commercials and then output to mpeg2.

Depends on what generation TiVO you have. If you have a series 1 you can put a nic inside of it, you can also add more cache to make it faster. The newer boxes (All of the new DirecTV boxes as well as standalones) are series 2 and have usb ports. You just go buy a usb nic wireless or wired and load drivers and you are in. You need a windows machine to pull the video.

Dump your TiVo on some chump and get a REAL DVR.

Nothing beats a ReplayTV 5000 series. Not only can you easily d/l shows to your
PC using simple software, but you can also stream them back to the unit.

Plus!!!! Internet Video Sharing (go to www.poopli.com and request other Replay
owners to send you shows you missed or don't have the premium channel they were
recorded from.)

Plus!!!! Automatic Commercial Skip!! YUP!  That's what I said.

I LOVE my ReplayTV 5040 (especially since I put a 120 Gig drive in it) in about 10 minutes!!

Went from 40 hours to 123 hours. LOL.

Long live DNNR ReplayTV. Makes TiVo look like a childs' broken etch-a-sketch. :shake:

I'll probably always do drugs, so that just contributes to the addiction to The Shroomery... It's a vicious circle of bliss. :tongue2:
