Re: The Pub & The Grateful Dead... [Re: TinTree]
    #3631751 -

Before last summer, the only song of theirs that I knew was Casey Jones.  I was drinking with some friends one sunny July afternoon, when one of them suggested we go to the concert.

I didn't really want to go, but they convinced me to come along.  So we walked from his house to the venue.  We met up with another friend that was tailgating in the lot, so we joined him, and proceeded to get wasted.  I bought an eigth of shrooms from some guy, then we wandered to "Shakedown Street" (as I later learned what it was).  I ended up sucking on nitrous balloons with old hippies while tripping my face off.

Basically I was in awe of the whole scene going on in my hometown, and had one of the best times of my life.  After the show, I became a huge fan of the music.

I basically love the Pub (although I rarely post) because many people here remind me of the people I met and chilled with at that concert.

It is true, the Pub has changed quite a bit (in a positive way) from the days of posting dead lyrics and most of the threads being about the Dead. But there are many of us still here.

It's great to know that the scene is still turning people on after all these years!

I got into the dead in 11th grade. we were reading one flew over the cuckcos nest that year. SO me being the avid reader I am picked up Sometimes a great notion and the electric kool aid acid test. Sometimes a great notion is a great book, however. what can I say, the bus came by and I got on.

I herd this here in the pub. The dead scene is about community and continuity.. And Again, everyone knows the best dead is live dead.

Calico Kahlia come tell me the news
Calamity's waiting for a way to get to her
Rosy red and electric blue
I bought you a paddle for your paper canoe

Say you'll come back when you can
Whenever your airplane happens to land
Maybe I'll be back here too
It all depends on what's with you

Nitrous is okay, but the distribution of nitrous has fucked the festival scene up. At Bonarroo, there were black balloons all over the ground everywhere. Irresponsible people just throw the shit on the ground for someone else to have to clean up and that is not right! If people would just have more respect for Mother Earth and it's inhabitants, things would be so much better for all of us. peace.
