Summer 2005
    #3591828 - 01/06/05 11:53 PM (19 years, 2 months ago)

I'm sick of working all summer. This summer, I'm going to take off. I'm going to camp, wander, hitch, ride the rails, and survive on as little means as possible.

I'm going to buy two things. maybe three...A hanging hammock shelter. and a camping stove.
oh and a water purifier.

I'm going to take off, with some clothes, my pens, my pads, my music, some mushrooms, and my music. I'm not going to worry about the world around me. It's going to be great.

Right on, man. It's a lil ways off, but hope you have fun. I've gotta work all summer so I can move the fuck out. Wish I lived somewhere with more wilderness around me.

That's about a 2.5 hour drive from where i'm at.

I still havent decided where to go on my journey, and I still have alot of reading to do. I need to polish my navigational skills, some survival skills and such.. I'm also slightly worried about bears. I figure if I take a whistle, some bear spray, and maybe a small handgun that shoots blanks I will be more than safe.

I've also always wanted to build a small, crude cabin in the woods. this might be the summer I start

Hey man why don't we meet up, share our skills and knowledge, and build our collective range of survival?

This upcoming year my doors are wide open.

you dont want a hammock. I did a bike trip for two weeks using a hammock, and my back was one hurting unit. Does that one even have a bug net? Get a bivy sack. The run between $100-300.

As far as a stove goes, definitly go MSR. I have an XKII that I bought a few years ago. The only problem with it I have is it has two flame settings, off and fire of hell. There is no simmering with an MSR stove. They are always relieable and even at high altitudes they conserve fuel.

that was one issue i had with the hammock, even though i won't be biking. I am worried about my back.

I'm not sure about bivy sacks. What if I roll over in the middle of the night? wouldnt the frame part get wrecked?

A plethora of music aspirations control my temptations of future revelations beyond "now". The percussion, and the heart beat of my love and devotion. The rhythm goes beyond, prying into the third eye, releasing the creativity held so far inside. The melodicies, through the out of tune pianos and broken classical guitars...there lies a beauty. A beauty as prevelent as the fire inside. To release these energies is pure ecstacy, to deveop these gifts is sacred. The vocality, so pure as can be, shying away from herself, lies within me. For the underlying serenitity, this is what I live for. I plea for harmony, and nothing more. Music equals love. Creation of love leads to the procreativity of the World, and it's spirals and puddles prevailing.

cool. I've thought about just giving it all up for a while and hitching, riding the rails, and wandering from place to place. I still might do it before I leave this country permanently. just to have that perspective on the U.S. I want to say "yeah, I tried everything I could and really gave America a run for its money, but it wasn't for me.."

I'm going to instead of working and/or going to school all summer go to Amsterdam for the first time (outside of U.S./Canada for the 1st time) and really enjoy myself and absorb as much as I can. I want to be completely blown away by another place for the first time. I want to be so impressed that I have no worries or reservations about looking back (at America) other than family.

good luck, have fun, peace.

Sounds good to me... I'll be in the woods this summer too, with the Rainbow Family.
