Possible Infections
    #358594 -

I am wondering about 2 possible infection I could have. Sorry I didn't provide a picture.

1. In one of my jars there is a little black dot on the subtrate. The dot hasn't grown, and today the mycelium managed to grow right underneath and around the dot. I just noticed the dot a few days ago but I think it is just some little thing I got in while preparing the jars. I am no expert though.

2. This possible infection is very tiny brown speks on the mycelium itself. They don't seem to be growing either.

Thanx
Ryan

Just to let you know a few more things. i can't smell a strong sour smell comming from any of the jars, the spots havn't grown at all.

Now about possible infection number 2. I am not sure if this is good or bad but the mycelium already is growning overtop of the speks. I might need to borrow a digital camera tomorrow and take a pic if the mycelium hasn't totally grown over. I just don't want to throw them out if I don't have to. I am starting to doubt it is a contamination.

the black dot is probably a spore clump... very common...

the second i am not sure about... most baterial infections have a strong odour, and some moulds have an odour... so no smell is a good thing... keep an eye on it!
