The same Kali like the one in the Indiana Jones movies?
That is one evil god then..

certainly not evil! western writers/philosophy/religion/etc have had a difficult time dealing with mythology like Kali or Shiva. in the western context, they are "evil" because they are destroyers - they are always pictured as fearsome, with human heads in their hands, blood at their feet, and so forth. but in the hindu tradition they are not evil at all. Shiva is a part of the "trinity" of hinduism - Brahma the Creator, Vishnu the Preserver, Shiva the Destroyer. in the Christian tradition, one might see Brahma and Vishnu as God and Jesus, and Shiva as Satan. but this is not the way that it is interpreted in Hinduism... Shiva and Kali are a very necessary part of the "circle" of existence - that which is created must be destroyed, so that more can be created, only to be destroyed, ad infinitum. the depicition of Shiva and Kali in Indiana Jones is a perfect example of the western mis-interpretation of these gods.

Kali isn't evil... fearsome, perhaps. blood-thirsty, definitely. one bad mama-jama, for sure. but not evil

warm and fuzzy, visually over stimulated, I didnt even notice the head in her hand or anything violent. It felt like it was a great symbol of something important, something nobel...
