i think my dog is dying

i dont know if i should have stuck this on general questions or not , but its pretty important. i have a 16 year old black lab,. she just ate one of those flat rawhide shewy things and now shes hacking and coughing and whining. also , her stomache is bloated and and hard. distented . seems to be in a lot of pain. now considering i cant afford a vet to save my life or the dogs, does anyone have ANY idea whats happening?

I'm sorry I don't know what could be the problem exactly but I want to wish your dog the best. 16 is old for a big dog like that but I hope she is okay.

16 years old is OLD for a dog....I dunno call an expert..

Good, sounds like you really need a vet....you don't want your dog to suffer.

The only thing that you can do is take her to a vet. Or at least call them and ask them what could be wrong with her.

Yes take her to the vet, they are the experts...they will tell you what is wrong..

I do not mean to sound like a heartless asshole, but I was just in the same situation with my parents cat... It had a huge tumor in its stomach, and was whinning with pain.. my father brought it to the vet, and the vet knowing there was nothing he could do, still ran all sorts of test and did xrays... long story short it cost $1200 and we came home with no cat. Make sure before you agree to have your dog treated that there is something he can do.

I wish your dog the best... I would be shattered if anything happened to my little baby! Dogs are better than humans for friends.

Grateful, 1200$ for testings?! That's ridiculous. Vets always that pricey where you live? I sure would do the same thing if I had an animal, doing the most I can for the animal I chose to take care of.

But I would be very pissed to get such a bill from a vet that knew it was useless...

Vet bills should be included in family health insurance.  :heart:

How's your dog doing?  Is she better now?  Maybe that rawhide thing didn't agree with her too well....

16 is an old dog. Probably time she moved on,if she's in pain do the right thing and send her on to rainbow bridge.
Get a puppy.
Life sucks sometimes.
I love my dogs more than i love any people.
Losing them oneday is going to eat fucking load.

My sympathy to you.

The whole situtaion with my cat happened at 11pm, so my vet wasn't around to help me out. I had called him at home first bbut I couldnt reach him so I took the cat to an Emergency Animal Clinic and that is where I shelled out $1200.
