We need the Rockies to get a shitload of snow this year (and about 3 more consecutively) to break this friggin drought we've been having!

Lake Mead is at historically low levels.  Here is a couple pictures I took of Hoover Dam on the way back from the AZ gathering last month...

This is a picture (bad quality, but all I could find on short notice) of the same place in the late 90's...

So I say...LET IT SNOW!  Sorry to anyone who lives in the Rocky Mountains, but I hope you get dumped on this year!

Lake Mead is fed by the Colorado river which is fed by the snow melt from the Rocky Mountains. We've had about 4 or 5 years of light snowpack in the Rockies and this limits the flow in the Colorado river. Lake Powell is the next reservoir upstream from Lake Mead (Powell is above the Grand Canyon, Mead is below it) and they are in even worse shape.

We need a few years of heavy snow in the Rockies to get caught up.

the only reason i dont like snow is that it is sooo dangerous to drive in...rain is no fun either but its not as slippery

No snow in England yet (we probably won't get any til' after Christmas). I love it when it's snowing though, it's so quiet.

I googled it and many articles about the drought. Going on since 2000.
But also the agriculture and public uses the water which has lead to restrictions in some areas.

One can imagine how much water one golf course needs during 4 dry years.
All together human activity draws billions of gallons of water from the colorado river.

"Southern Nevadans consumed 16.3 billion gallons of water less in 2003 than they did in 2002. "

LOL 16,3 billion gallon LESS. Only nevada south....

I checked:
http://www.lvvwd.com/html/ws_drought.html  and
http://www.snwa.com/html/wr_drought.html

People start to value "normal" things like water and trees and birds, when they are almost gone...

Let it snow!

snow sucks ass. we got a thick blanket of snow around thanksgiving too and it's just about all melted. snow is fun if maybe you're driving up to the mountains to VISIT the snow, but otherwise it's just shitty.
