Hey. I just read something that kind of got me down. Since we live in a "flat" universe, there will be no Big Crunch...fine. After the star-gas-star cycle fizzles (about a trillion years hence) (we) only have the possibility of our white dwarf of a sun colliding with something else in the galaxy every quadrillion years or so. Following this, protons will begin to decay and all matter will fall apart into subatomic particles...no matter. Eventually, in about 10 to the one hundredth power years, black holes will evaporate, sloughing off the photons that will chill with the subatomic particles in oblivion forever (sort of). Time will end...there will be no events in the universe, no way of distinguishing the past from the future. Please assume that humans will not be around after, say, less than 10,000 years from now :sad:. Anyhow, can anyone cheer me up and offer me another take on any of this. Thanks.

Think of it this way, at least you won't be around to live through this terrible time right?

So enjoy yourself now and stop worrying about 10,000 years into the future

Maybe in the future the people of Earth will find life on another planet in another galaxy with a sun that still has another million years left or whatever.

Yeah, I'm pretty much about enjoying myself and the people around me now. It just sucks that there is a finite amount of time during which new lifeforms/civilizations will develop.

I guess if you wrote 10 to the one hundredth power zeros on a piece of notebook paper, that piece of notebook paper wouldn't fit in the observable universe. That's one way of thinking about how far away the end of time is.

-I would be able to write down the number "10" with a hundred "0"s following it on a single piece of notebook paper; I wouldn't even need to use half of it!

Huh :confused:? No, write 10 to the one hundredth power (#) zeros. As in a huge-ass number that is, like, bigger than we can comprehend. Capisch? You would not be writing the number itself, you would be writing that many zeros (or A's or Z's...whatever).
