how do i sterilize verm?

i need to find out how to sterilize vermiculite. i dont have a microwave and i dont have a pressure cooker. i will be sterilizing around 1 and 1/2 cups of it.

hey, you got to be genuine thats the name of this game. if you're real, then you aint got nothing to worry about, but if youre synthetic then starting tomorrow you're balls come off!

Stick it in the oven at 350F for like 30 min. Thats definately overkill, but you'll be guaranteed that the verm is sterilized.

Tired of pimping yourself on the corner to afford spores? Well throw out that red dress and go to the FSR, for spores even you can afford.

Do you have a pot with a lid? Do you have a stove? Are you camping in the woods or what? 1. Get you a pot with a tight fitting lid. 2. put your premoistened verm in a temperature safe bowl (ie ceramic or the like. pyrex bowl would be perfect). 3. Place the bowl into the pot. 4. working around the bowl, fill the pot with water about half way up the bowl. The bowl should not float...5. turn on the heat and bring the water to a gentle boil. 6. reduce the heat to just above a simmer (should manitain a gentle boil). 6. put the lid on. 7. set a timer for at least an hour and wait. 8. let that shit cool and use. Disclaimer: Some folks don't cook verm at all. I would reccommend trying the be as clean as possible. Leave the lid on the pot an d don't be takin' it off during the steaming process. This will maintain the heat inside the pot. You may need to gently squeeze the verm to remove excess water. The verm should not be drippy when you use it.

get a pan, stick in the verm, cover with foil, bake :smile:
doesn't get much easier than that...

Ya, it doesn't get much easier than baking it for a bit. But does your verm really need to be sterilized? It's usually good to go right out of the package. I never bothered sterilizing verm.
