Shroom Hunt results(No Active ones =\ )
    #343027 - 06/17/01 08:13 PM (22 years, 9 months ago)

Hey folks...

A few days ago we had a about 2 hours of hard rain so I decided to go looking for shrooms the next day in my neighborhood. No magic mushrooms, but I did find some rather interesting ones, heres some pics for all you mycology nuts out there =). I have no clue what species any of these mushrooms are-- feel free to identify.

Found this one growing in fairy rings in the woods

I think its the type of mushroom as above(found in same area).
Sorry about picture quality... don't have a macro lense(dont think they make them for digi's)

Found 3 of these in the backyard... they have no gills.

Also found in woods, top of cap was green that faded to bright yellow/orange- looks slimy

Same shrooms as above

Thats it for now. Like I said, feel free to identify.

Peace out,
-Gumby

the first specimines i cant tell, the second is some type of bollette, the final are hygrocybes. possible hygrocybe conica, in which case they would have bruised black and according to some reputable sources may contain active psychotropic indoles. but.... they may not be that species, H Conica tends to always have a very pointy cap. common names, witches hat, conic slimecap. dont take my word for it, im VERY iffy on that ID. either way, it wouldnt be worth eating. its considered insignificant as edible.

madness never slows down, it only piles up.

There are no hallucinogenic species of Hygrocybe but there are six species of Hypholoma with which contain the alkaloids psilocybiine/psilocine in them.

Actually they are the alkaloids psilocine and/or psilocybine.

One more question... My mushroom book happens to be missing so I'll ask here =P

Do Copelandia bispora grow in the Southeast US(particuarly Georgia)? If so, what conditions do they grow in? While I was out I found some mushrooms that looked very similar to the 3 mushrooms with the brown/black specks on the caps in this picture:

http://www.entheogen.com/mushpics/Cbispora.jpg

The mushrooms I found did not briuse blue, and were found growing on rotting wood in the woods.

Thanx again,
-Gumby

If by digis you mean digital camera, then yes, of course they make them. Nearly all modern cameras are digital. If you mean you mum's fully automatic holiday snap-shot camera, then no, they don't - and I'd suggest that it only has one in-built lens. If the lens is detachable, chances are they make macroscopic lenses for it. Anyway, hope that helps and a macro lens is a good investment if your interested in photography!

I need a lens, it can be very hard to get auto focus to work correctly sometimes.

I meant macrolenses for fully digital cameras(i have a Sony Mavica)... don't think they make those. I do have a 16 year old pentax camera, and I know macro lenses are avaliable for that, but they are just so damned expensive :P

Peace out
