Colorado Shroom Hunting
    #1015268 -

Hey, does anyone know if any species of shrooms grow up here in colorado? In the mountains or on the plains? Shroom hunting seems to be fun and i would love to try it.

At this time of year? No.
In the spring or summer? Yeah, maybe. You'd be looking for Pan subbs and possibly Gyms.

Gumby has it right. I'll add that Conocybe cyanopus was apparently found here by Alexander Smith.

But the season is long over. Next season will probably be around next July through September for those species. That should give you plenty of time to read and study so that when you get out there in the woods you'll have an idea of where and what you should be looking for instead of picking evey random mushroom in sight and wondering if they're active.

While you're at it, you should also learn all the deadly poisonous species, so that you can confirm for yourself that what you're about to eat isn't one of those. There's less than a half dozen, so that shouldn't be hard.

Finally, start praying (or whatever you do) that we get some rain (and snow over the winter). If the drought doesn't end you're not going to find any mushrooms at all, active or otherwise.

Happy mushrooming!
