I think you would be in for an ordeal trying to choke down that cake. I have seen a tek using cranberry juice for extraction. Just can't remember for sure, where. Something like, break up the cake in a blender, add cranberry juice, let it sit for awhile, strain and bottoms up! Not sure of potency either, but I'm sure that tek is around.

this is kinda hard to follow, but it tells you how to extract the psilocybin from mycilium. i've read th cranberry method somewhere also, but i can't remember where. i even tried looking. anyways, the tek i just mentioned is in the erowid vault. here's the link http://www.erowid.org/plants/mushrooms/mushrooms_cultivation20.shtml
just checking what condition my condition is in.

For the cranberry extraction method your supposed to use rye grains for your substrate so that when you extract the mycelium with cranberry juice and a teaspoon of asorbic acid crystals (vitamin C) it doesnt taste like vermiculite. And the tek is in the grow/find section here on the shroomery.

1/2 pint isn't enough to trip on anyway with the cranberry juice method. A friend recently tried drinking a quart size jar 100% colonized by mycelium and only got minor threshold effects. She used two cups of cranberry juice and ascorbic acid, let me tell you she was one pissed off bitch when she realized she wasn't going to trip at all... Just be more patient with the cake.

I had the same problem once when I couldnt get my cakes to fruit. So I finally just took all five cakes, mashed them up in some juice in a pot and boiled them pretty well and then strained the liquid using a T shirt. The reason for using a T shirt is so you can squeeze out the liquid through using you hands, because with the vermiculite and all, the liquid tends to be quite think and its almost impossible to strian it using a regular strainer. But with those five cakes I shroomed harder than I ever had before, almost too much for me. Doing just one cake probably wouldn't be very exciting.

Apparently older cakes which have already fruited contain more psilocybin than freshly colonised cakes. I'd make a rough guess and say a half pint cake could be equal to 1 dried gram of mushroom material.
