incubating with filter discs

i have just sterilized all my jars and i'm gonna innoculate them soon. would someone that has used filter discs tell me how they incubated? do you need a chamber? are they gonna dry out? thanks all...

one more question, do yall innoculate with the tin foil on or should i take it off? not a big deal just wondering? thanks all...

They will dry out at least towards the top unless you have plastic lids with a small 3/8" to 1/2" hole drilled in them, it's really best to use plastic lids with filter disks, you don't get rust all over them, and your jars don't dry out. Nushroom Pharmer recommends using a humidified incubator, I believe directions for that are posted on his site. Though I've heard that incubating in a humid environment increases the chance of contamination from a reliable source. But nushroom doesn't seem to have that problem, so that's what I would do if you don't have plastic lids. The ball 1 pc plastic lids do work for this, and do survive pressure cooking without melting any.
