Late season Georgia Ps.cubensis(pics)
    #3403544 - 11/24/04 12:18 PM (19 years, 4 months ago)

With all the rain we in the southeast have been getting, I figured I'd take a morning walk on down to the Cow pasture today before work. Soon as I entered the field it was obvious I was a day late and dollar short, the rain had gotten to alot of the cubies and water logged/rotted them. There were however enough out there to make a decent little haul, and the decent mushrooms I did find were typical healthy, meaty, colorful cool weather cubensis. Gotta love it

neat. They all look like different species. I've been dreaming of cube hunting for a while. Wish I was there.

Yes, all of them are genuine 100% pure Georgia Psilocybe cubensis  The cool weather tends to bring out some odd shapes and forms of cubensis IMO, and the abundant rainfall we've been getting here over the past week has water logged alot of the mushrooms which tends to bring out different colors and hues in the caps, and if they get alot of water the caps get translucent looking. Rest assured they are all cubensis.

Naw, no Copelandias where I'm at, I wish! They only grow along the southern most stretch of Georgia, about the first 50 miles or so above the Florida border.

No, the avatar is actually a new species of Psilocybe I discovered here in GA a few years ago.

Close  It's a Cybershot DSC-F828, takes 8megapixel shots. Wouldn't have this cam if my dorms didn't catch fire last year. This was a replacement/upgrade from my Fuji FinePix S602.

I went hunting in NW GA after the rain too.
Got some very unusual finds, georgia seems to have 100's of different cube strains, very odd.
i recognize a few of the pics; the second one looks like a new forest strain ive been finding. very small (1.5in max) and very potent, correct?

I have some pics of a VERY strange cube that i found a few of. very beutiful, never seen anything like it. care to see?
