jonnywax track (electronica)

alright everybody, i've got a new track in the works, and id like some shroomerite advice/opinions :smile:

it's the first track on this here page:

if anyone has any critiques or thoughts id like to hear em! i've been workin on this for the last couple days and i'd like to know if there's a certain direction i should take it in (or if it already seems to have direction), or if there's anything youd like to hear changed etc etc... i just am kinda in a rut with it but don't know what to do next? i'm thinking of working it into a hip hop beat (with the louder drum parts being the actual verses, the rest just filler or spoken word or something)...

I like it, boards of canada style soundscape for some parts of the song. whole song is mellow, but not boring in any way.
I really like the sound of the drums :thumbup:

Reminds me of Trent Reznor in a happy-struttin'-down-the-street mood...
I'd like to hear more layers in general, some of the subtle stuff you do sounds great, and I think it could use even more.. You have repeating layers and the drums (which don't necessarily loop, but keep the same timbre) and it would be great to contrast this with sort of evolving sound effects (clicks, fuzz, noise, whatever you can create).

I really dig your drums, they are creative and funky. And the sections you have divided work well within the entire composition. I think my ears just want to hear either a key change or more layers... But that could be the BoC/Shpongle/Chemical Brothers in me :wink:

Great start, try just experimenting more on top of what you got?

i didnt notice that it does kinda sound like trent reznor took some prozac..hah.. good observation :lol:

i think i will just keep adding some layers and maybe more variation to the whole thing. make it have a thicker sound :smile:

the verse was written by a fellow shroomerite named slaphappy, who posted it in S&P as a sort of poem, i think, and i took the liberty of using it.. i hope he/she doesn't mind, as i really liked it. i'm not planning to release the song or anything..
