General Mycology Forum

I have encountered situations when a post doesn't belong in any of the existing forums in Mushrooms and Mycology section. I know this has been suggested before and I still don't understand why not open a general mycology science forum for mycology news, discussion on different topics besides cultivation (like taxonomy, history, ecology, recent research etc. etc.)?

This all fits into the Advanced Mushroom Cultivation forum.

I still do think that we need either to rename the misleading "Advanced Mushroom Cultivation" to "Advanced Mycology" or something similar (if it really isn't just about cultivation then why is it called "Advanced Mushroom Cultivation"?!) or really - why not leave the advanced cultivation forum to advanced cultivators to talk about advanced cultivation and make a brand new forum for pure mycological discussion (which is not directly related to cultivation). Hell if I would have made a post about the ecological niche of Serpula lacrymans or about original Linnaeus' mushroom taxonomy in Advanced Mushroom Cultivation forum I would be banned now ("it suuure ain't advanced cultivation")
This is The Shroomery for Christ's sake. If we can have Shroomery Polls forum where people can vote for 2Pac or Biggie, then why can't we have a mycology forum where we can talk mushroom science?
Do I make any sense at all? I haven't slept for too long

I think it's a good idea
"Advanced Mycology" would cover all of advanced cultivation and more. It's something I'd definitely like to read.

While Advanced Mushroom Cultivation forum is primarily about experimental cultivation procedures, the forum description clearly says it: You CAN talk about mushroom science in there. A name is not a wall.

It'd be nice if we could do that and an edibles hunting forum.
The regular hunting forum gets too many fucktards looking for an easy high, with no appreciation for the hobby of mycology(and hunting edibles).
