Big trips, and the importance of WAITING.
    #3377965 - 11/18/04 06:11 AM (19 years, 4 months ago)

I like to trip BIG style.  Shrooms are great for this, as you can do them the previous night, and still go in to work the next day.  Also, I haven't gone insane yet.
The reason why I'm posting this is to say how much stronger a trip is if you can make yourself wait for about 2 weeks in between trips.  I expect there are alot of you in the know already, but I just thought I'd share anyway.
Over the summer, I've been tripping every 3 - 6 days, doing increasingly huge amounts to get "all the way in".  Now, not only has it been costing me ?100 ish per week, but I started to get seriously bored, so I gave up for a whole 10 days, while I tried to dry some out for easier consumption.  Have you ever eaten 200g fresh cubensis?  It takes a REALLY long time, and I don't even like the taste of mushrooms!!
The long and short of it is that I did the comparatively small amount of 70g, and finally got the planet leaving hallucinations I'd been dreaming about!  My room turned into a spiral staircase with me at the top, my partner on a mezzanine level, and the bedroom door right at the bottom.  There were writhing faces and bodies everywhere, and it even altered the sound of the music, which doesn't usually happen.  It was the biggest, wiggliest stripiest, best trip ever!!
The moral of this story is that if you are a seriously big trip fan, it's well worth the wait!
Me and my pal have now waited nearly 14 days, and will be fucking ourselves up mightily on 200g between us on Saturday.  Happy, happy, joy, joy....

Yeah, 2 weeks is a little amount of time to wait for me. I'd rather wait at least a month, but it's been over 2 months as of now.

Bloody hell, that's some impressive control! I was a bit worried that I'd get criticism for not treating the shroom in a more reverent manner. Do you guys get into all these hectic visuals? Brilliant, huh?

Yeah, sometimes i get crazy visuals that i get deeply into, but other times i got beyond that. Totally brilliant. I actually don't have much self control, it's just something different with mushrooms. Like if i have a chance to smoke weed any day, i'll take that up, but i definitely respect the fungi. No need to criticize you, if you wanna trip every 2 weeks, that's your choice, nothing wrong with that.

I've just started to get my head around the maxim "don't live for tripping, trip for living". But I do like to keep my hand in! I love the balanced viewpoint it gives me, and the realisation of how much I love my friends. I can even love McDonalds customers, previously the bane of my life.

I know exactly what you mean. Tripping brings me a new appreciation for life and everything included. Totally balances me as a person.

The importance of waiting between trips, especially if you want to have an overwhelming (positive) experience, is not only about tollerance. If you trip again after 2 weeks (so your tollerance is gone) your last experience will still be too much on your mind, usually in the shape of expectations. You'll be trying to experience again the best things you remember from your last trip, or comparing both experiences. This prevents you from letting the trip go where it wants and can leave you feeling less impressed with the experience, even disappointed. You are not getting the most out of it because you are unable to accept this trip for what it is.

So a good criterium to judge wether to trip again is: have I forgotten what my last trip was exactly like? Off course you will probably never completely forget what it was like, but you can find a point where your last trip isn't really on your mind anymore. At this point you can usually have an trip that almost feels as special as the first trip you ever made. For me this usually takes 2 months at least.

This is really good advice! When you forget what tripping is really like (the constant realizations and emotions and such), then it's probably a good time to shroom. It does feel a LOT more special after you wait this long, and this is pretty much the way i do it. I've been wanting to trip for a couple of weeks here...

That makes a ton of sense! My first three trips, all of them were roughly 3 weeks apart, and the last two didn't come anywhere close to my first trip. But then I waited five months, tripped on a dose lower than normal, and had a trip that rivaled my first one. I think I'm going to start trying to wait at least a month. And I know what you mean about "forgetting exactly" what it was like.

Haha, that's cool though man. I'm sure you have a lot to show for those 12 years as opposed to tripping a lot.

when i was younger, eating 1/8 or 1/4 every few days or every other week was possible to do, but now i think that more than one trip in the span of a few months is overkill

i have too many lasting consequences from repeated overly intense experiences ... it's not worth it

Tripping becomes like a favourite film you've seen one too many times when very frequent - interesting, entertaining still maybe,...but you know the script inside out.
