Hello all- I just went trompin and a stompin in this sweet Utter wetness of floodness conditions here in Central Tex lately- I know I have Cubes but are these copes? Sorry no spore prints right now

i realize the top left and lower left are Antillarum for sure but how bout the others? i see a definite blue reaction when held but also slightly slightly greenish

some of those look like cubes, but you have a mixed group of mushrooms there... spore prints would be fantastic.

the one in the first pic with the skinny stem looks like a pan cyan but I can't tell for sure without a print and confirmation that it is bluing (not gray but blue).

you have a mixture of 3 species in your photos

Psilocybe cubensis
Copelandia cyanescens
Panaeolus antillarum

Panaeolus antillarum is not active,
the other two are active mushrooms.

Those antillarums are bothersome. I find them all around my cyans. Once you get familiar with them they're no problem to distinguish up close, but I wish they'd stop messing around in my active patches.

thanks for the kind words GG-- As i said before- here are some habitat pix for you guys-  i havent found many cubes at all but the copes are out in a force to my amazement

im not really sure if these are copes or.. what? anyone?

your right Gumby- no need for a gun whilst mush hunting- but there is a dandy of a Lake there where i like to shoot the occasional water mocassin <sp?

i know i dont have much info :frown: on the top 1st and second pics but any ideas as to pic #1-- Im pretty sure they arent Antillarum... Kind of sure they arent copes (hope Im wrong)  so what might they be be....  i didnt notice any Immediate blue reac when i touched them- but the top of the caps look like maybe maybe copes-  I hope..

off to take pix be back soon with better ones I hope

Northeast of Austin-- Im really surprised at the mush growth for my area- Im used to heading east to H-town about this time of year but no need- just a short drive down 95

Ack man... WTF is with the rifle/shotgun? No need for that while mushroom hunting.

GGreatOne had it right, a mixture of 3 species. The best way to tell the Copes from the Pan. antillarum is by bluing reaction. Copes will always bruise blue, Pans won't. Also always make sure your cubes bruise blue aswell.

thanks Super... The copez were Everyywhere!!  as far as the eye could see, everytime i thought about heading back to my truck i would find another lil patch with my name on it! lol

the cubes are a different story tho- not near as many as copes- but still out there- I think there would be much more cubes out if we didnt get such torrential floods from all last week. But the sun is starting to peak its head out right now so Im happy  :mushroom2:

I'm getting washed away today, which means more and more shrooms in the days to come. Should get some nice pics (and picks) this coming week. I have to go back through Baton Rouge on Tuesday or Wed. and plan on going through my cope cyan field. There are just so many shrooms and so little time!
