Well im damned if I can find any verm in my area.... maybe the rumor about it being recalled is true. Has anyone used Miracle Gro with success instead of verm?

Even if they discontinue it, there will always be a place to find it. I find it a garden shops a lot and I would think that it wouldnt be taken out of those. They might though, I dunno. It is still around in Oregon for sure. I use the verm as bedding for my tarantulas as well so it would suck even more if it was taken away.

Miracle grow potting soil, or Miracle grow plant food. I'm pretty sure the plant food wouldn't work, but the potting soil might. All I know about the vermiculite is that I can still find it with out any trouble, so maybe its just a location thing.

lol, don't get too scared, verm. is here to stay, there are tons of companies which make it and i doubt all of them had asbestos in there product. Just go to a green house.

if you actually do a little research on the verm issue, you will find that there was one mine in the US that produced verm with asbestos. the mine was shutdown 10 years ago. this issue is getting so blown out of proportion. the reason the stores aren't carrying it is probably because some dumbass, ignorant lawyers thought there might be lawsuit risks associated with carrying it. i can see the *mart stores discontinuing it, but your local nursery will always have it. you should be supporting them anyways. f the corporations.

its directed towards anyone that thinks that verm is being banished from america...you can still find it at your local nursery. i found all this out after having my source cut off, i read a couple press releases. it takes about 2 minutes to find the truth. could you sense some animosity towards corporations??? :)

I use shultz potting soil with extra moisture (contains peat moss and sum verm, along with other mossess), it colonizes well and contains a fertilizer (organic of course) in it. My mushies have been doing very well, I did about 3-4 casing with this and all that I have had was sucess. I had a huge pesa grow out of this substrate.
