UK pot growing under unsuitable conditions?
    #3361379 -

Hi, I think this is the right place for this.

Two questions:
1) Where is the best place to buy (half descent) pot seeds in the UK? All the website are WAY too expensive and I don't know any seed-dealers (or anyone I could get a cutting from either).

2) I have read just about every guide on growing pot but never bothered (obviously, no seeds). The thing is, I can't find anywhere that says its ok to 'casually' grow pot.
I imagine it wouldn't be too difficult to just 'casually' grow it as it sounds like quite a hardly plant. I can't be bothered buying all the grow lamp crap right now (will do eventually) but I wouldn't mind getting under way (as having a constant super strong supply isn't that important for me immediately).
If I wanted to do this, what would you say the bare minimum equipment I would need to get under way? I would have said just some jiffy germination bag and a pot of soil?! Take into account the unpredictable UK climate, would cold or lack of light affect growth to the point of death?
I mean, I wouldn't mind having a small weak plant and then when I can comfortably afford all the stuff, start powering growing it into shape!

Thanks in advance.

1) http://www.seedsdirect.to/ have a very good reputation, and AFOAF heard they are very discrete.

2) It's not OK to grow pot casually in the UK, so you'll need to assess the risks personally. It sounds as though you want to start an outdoor grow, AFOAF also heard that planting out just after the last frosts in March usually results in a crop around October. Although personally I wouldn't know.

Read up on the strains and which ones are the most hardy, and which one(s) suit your needs best. Those crazy Dutch have managed to engineer a strain for all occasions.

www.overgrow.com is the weed equivalent of the shroomery, head over there it's a mine of good info.

Durring the summer "casual" or outdoor growing works just as well as indoors if not better. You can place them on a balcony or a roof, a window isnt a good option unless its a large south facing window. Otherwise you best bet for a KISS grow owuld be a one of these, http://overgrow.com/edge/showthread.php?t=21575 All you need is 2 3-4' floro fixtures, a pot or two, some good potting soil. For ferts shultz your easiest route would be 10-10-10 for veg and 15-30-15 miracle grow ferts for flower. AS long as the ferts are somewhere allong those lines with high P (middle number) for feeding dutrring flower and an even NPK for veg.

For ventilation just have a fan blowing into the closet.

water when dry and fert every other watering, start em on 18/6 lighting and 4-5 weeks in switch to 12/12 to start flowering. For weeks 6-8 flush out the chems in the soil by watering with straight water.

Thanks for the links and help... wasn't aware of the other forum so I'll just ask there!

Didn't really think it would be a particularly good idea, just wanted to check how stupid it was from people that may have tried. I'm aware of the risk etc. but the plants wouldn't be anywhere that could be linked directly to myself or anyone else if the worst happened (not like i'd grow a forest of them anyway!), I may try in the future with proper growing conditions, but leave it for now.
