Is Psilocybe cubensis like the most preferred species. Are there any more potent strains?

Nothing, just another potent species growing outdoors on wood substrate.

Are you sure its wood substrate only. I know it is one of the most potent Psilocybes, and also has a low baeo content. I guess the PF method would not work, eh?

Most likely not. Bohemica naturally occurs on spruce wood.(but also other wood) It needs prolonged near freezing temperatures to be triggered into fruiting.

A wood based substrate is not necessary according to Garts. In Magic mushroom Of The World, 1996 he describes how he cultivated Psilocybe bohemica (page 72)
In reply to:
Psilocybe bohemica was another species that fruited on damp rice after two or three months. These in-vitro specimens also appeared to be muh hardier in comparison to fruiting bodies collected at a natural location near Sazava, Bohemia (Czech Republic). The cultivated specimens even developed two (!) rings, yet these robust mushrooms did not fruit until after an exposure to the shock of cold temperatures
Now, i am not saying that these will be easy to cultivate, but wood seems not be necessary for fruitbody production. But as with all the outdoor species, the problem is not the substrate but the necessity for a controllable environment (cooling, humidification). I have planted a bed this year, created in the same way as the azurescens and cyanescens bed.

This is all he wrote about it. The book has a picture of a lone mushroom growing in a 300 ml erlenmeyer flask with about 200 ml of substrate.

I am going to inoculate a flask, plug it with polyfill and place in the fridge. CO2 levels, hmm, we?ll see. Perhaps the light of opening the fridge door will suffice. Wish me luck. --------------------------------------- kickme.to/mushroomsEdited by Anno on 06/06/01 08:37 PM.

Should the Petri dishes be kept cool while colonizing, or is it possibly the lack of wood in the agar, or are they just slow colonizers? Mine are moving rather slow, but there is no rush, just wondering.

Bohemica can be rather slow on agar, at least with me.
