Hey all!!!! One week ago, I crumble a pf cake and cased it using the simple verm casing tek. About 2 days ago, I saw a single shrrom appear! No its is really big, and veil has no broke yet. Thing is, un tryed to dug a bit the verm with sterile hand, to see how was the mycelim was going, cos I couldn't see any mycelim poking: and the mycelium hadn't colonized AT ALL the verm!! So the shrrom was even bigger than I thought cos it started under a layer of 1 1/2 inch of verm!!! How come the mycelium hasn't colonized? what should I do? THanx!!
I am completly mad so dont listen to a word I say its the littleblueguyz fault. If I don'tpost anything for a few days, it's that I have suicided myself or I had decided to live on Mars.

Pick it, deep scratch and if your casing container is clear tape the sides and bottom.

1and1/2 inch????? sounds too deep for the monkeys causing you to fruit under it..... FYI monkeys around here use the thinnest layer they can...peace "like a Japanese Cowboy or a blind man on skates"Ween "you must make sure that the lady's pure for the Funky Cold Medina"Tone LocEdited by BrownPastures on 06/05/01 07:26 PM.

Missed that one. Scrape off your casing layer and start over. 1/2 inch of verm is all you need.

i use verm only casing layers (thin ) but i never see the verm layer colonizing, only the mycelium growing underneath. when i used brf/verm and peat/verm i finally saw casing layer colonization.

verm is too deep. Your shrooms are suffering. If you remove the verm don't be suprised to find little mushrooms growing around in the verm.
4 out of 5 inmates agree. The FSR is better than being raped by your overweight roomate!;) Support the FSR.

That was probably because the verm wasn't moist enough...monkeys around here ALWAYS see colonization in the verm. casing layer....

Thanw everyone!! Well, what'ill do, is take the verm of, sterilise some bit more and put a 1/2 layer on. Ok? Or should I just remove 1 inch of verm?? I did a 1inch layer under. Is that ok?
