why aren't my casing colonizing?
    #399147 - 09/20/01 01:07 PM (23 years, 2 months ago)

i cased some crumbled cakes in 50/50 like two weeks ago, and they are showing no signs of colonization.
i covered them in plastic and kept them in the dark.
also the cakes had flushed a couple of times before being cased..

can anyone tell me what the fluck is going on?

couple of things ... cakes that have already been flushed have a lesser chance of working well as casings than do cakes which have not. it may not be strong enuf to colonize the casing material and fruit again - how thick was you casing layer? too thick and it may have a hard time colonizing - im not really familiar with 50/50, but do you have to buffer it and did you? the ph could be a factor if so... just thinking out loud - did you up the temps? and poke a few holes in the plastic (shouldnt have been sealed airtite)?

again, could be anything. but im guessing the cakes dont have enuf left in them after flushing several times to now fruit again. perhaps spawning on dung may have resulted in something, but just casing it didnt give it any more food source to draw from.

sorry
