A tip for indoor pot growers.

I know two guys who got busted recently and both had no idea who ratted them out. Well they went to their preliminary inquiries and found out that noone ratted on them at all. Turns out the police helicopter flys around at night using their infrared camera and looks for houses that have rooms or entire floors that are unusually warm. So their advice was that to avoid this kind of detection, one must only have the lights on during the daylight hours (they only fly around at night). Even on the vegetative cycle, only have the light on for 18 hours max and set the timer so that the light is off from 11 pm til 5 am. This might seem like common sense to some but others are still greedy and have an entire basement full of plants and lights going 24/7. These are the people getting busted in my city right now. Keep it small, only have one light, tell NOONE and don't get greedy! Follow these rules and your chances of getting busted are minimal.

Is that in Canada?

B/c in the US a few weeks ago some guy was busted with I think an infared gun b/c the cops could "see through" his roof. However the case was thrown out b/c the courts deemed that it was not right b/c the cops used too advanced technology that was not in everyday use. search cannabisnews.com

Eveyone who doesn't grow pot should set up a bunch of heaters in a room of their house. Then when the police come and kick down your door, you can sue them.

The days of PIGS flying over houses using infra devices to seek out pot growers in the United States is over. The Supreme Court ruled it as an ILLEGAL search without a warrant to search.

i hate the DARE programs, those fuckers know they cant win, i had that shit for like 4 years and look at me now, smoke weed, shrooms, alchohol, so fuck cops, and fuck DARE, im thinkin about that now and just think, damn, fuck those fuckin pricks.

By the way, the lights arent the only problem, the smell, the smell is a big fuckin problem, even though it would be nice to have my place smell like weed, it would be bad if people come to ur house alot that u dont trust, thats why its a good idea to grow ur bud in a closet in ur basement. or build a fuckin shack in ur back yard with a lock on it, and line the whole thing with plastic on the inside and make a vent at the top so people cant smell it.

The rooms need to be very well insulated with a heat exaust that goes out thru a legit heat sorce. (EX: a chimney in the winter, an outlet from a furnace etc...

Sure this technology has been around for over a decade. The days over growing in a tin shed with a 1000 watt HPS when it's 35 degrees F. is loooong gone. If in doubt buy a thermal scanner to test. Thick construction type insulation with the right type of exaust will do the trick. Otherwise use COOL FLORECENTS!!!!

IR cannot see thru walls or your roof. It can only measure and represent visually the surface temperature. They look for hotspots and warm-air plumes coming out of unusual places.

In most places in the world, an IR scan is not enough to get a warrent but added to unusual electricity usage and funny smells it might be. Small grows of c.400W are not going to be detected in this manner.

Many people use their attics for all sorts of purposes and many of these will heat the roof up, it is only a starting point for them.

If you are worried you can just get the place insulated as if being used as a normal room. Exhaust fans into chimney are a good idea. Avoiding hot spots is the key - a badly insulated loft shows quite an even heat distribution on the tiles.

Actually, to get the same lumens per square foor as an HID, fluoros are not the answer. The tubes themselves have a lower temerature but the overall heat energy emitted by the tube+ballast is about the same. It is all about efficiency and HIDs ar quite efficient.

My friends brother is in the UK drugs squad and he says that they get tip offs which they will deny under oath to protect their source. Maybe this is another option?

Supreme court says they can't use that technology without a warrant. Voted on that a month or two ago.
