Dunking Mycobags
    #3275532 -

How exactly would you dunk a mycobag? And would it be done after a flush was harvested? Im still not real sure how "dunking" is done and if it is worth the effort for the outcome. Hope someone can fill me in, thanks.

Search for "dunk tek"

You can dunk the cake, or you can dunk in the bag, just be sure to keep the filter patch dry.

Have fun... and good luck.

i have no experience with mycobags so i can actually tell you anything to do with them,

Mushrooms are about 90% water, so when a flush is picked, the substrate might be dehydrated a little, this is why we dunk for around 12-24hours, to replenish lost water.

personally if i had a mycobag i wouldnt dunk it

dont just dunk it. take the colonized mass out of the bag and dunk in a 1/100th bleach solution, then break it up and case it. what you got there is probably a TON of high nutrient- grain. you probably have a mass there with 4 times as much nutrients as a pf cake.

u could hav MAD shrooms.

oh, sterilization is is mainly a problem as the substrate is colonizing.

I recomend you try the bag first, then decide if you wish to case. Bags cost good $$$... not worth the risk. A bag yields fine as it is.

yeah im not gonna case, its too much work right now for me, which is why I got mycobags in the first place. But is there a way you could dunk and leave it in the bag, without having to case?

So would you just put it in a bucket of cold water and keep it above the filter patch? Wouldn't it float, seems like it would be hard to keep it submerged when left in the bag...? I dont want to take the cake out of the bag because I dont want to case it.

if your intent to dunk is to stimulate fruiting, just put the whole bag into the fridge for 24 hours. Dont worry about dunking.

If you would like to soak the colonized mass in water to stimulate BIG fruiting, larger yeilds, the filter patch shouldn't be a worry. As you should prolly take the entire colonized mass OUT of the bag, submerge it in some Hydrogen peroxide water, (If you use the 3% variant, it should be 1 portion of peroxide to 10 portions of water (1:10).
Leave the thing in the fridge for 12-24 hours. (hold the colonized mass DOWN with a plate, a bowl, or a few plates, keep adding plates untill it keeps the mass under the water.
After the 12-24 hours, the mass should be taken out of the water/h2o2, and put in a terrarium. if you dont have one, put the mass on a plate, and take a plastic bag, clear, or white, put it over the top, covering the entire substrate. Keep a light on in the room, to give it light. Mist the inside of BAG every day(use 1/10 3%h2o2/water solution), even every 1/2 day. Put colinized substrate somewhere it is cool. 70degF
Just not HOT like over 80.
Eh?
