in all the photos on this message board it seems ppl have a LOT of mycellium poking through the casing layer. in a foaf's casings (jiffymix) the myc is hardly through the layer at all, just barely visible beneath when pinning begins...

also, in a past casing where only verm was used, no pinning occurred ever. is this due to the verm casing layer being too thick or what?

Perhaps it was too wet? Or too dry? It?s hard to tell with vermiculite only.

Has this ever happened to you? whenever I use a verm only casing layer i get 4-5 pins and they all grow large and weigh about 1oz wet. when i use a verm/nutrient mix such as jiffy mix i get about 15-20 pins and their cumulative weight is the same. and this happens every time! weird.
