The Power of Kindness
    #3274448 - 10/25/04 08:16 AM (12 years, 8 months ago)

Genuine kindness and a selfless understanding has the ability to change the hearts and minds of others with the utmost power. The last two nights I expirenced this, directly.

Being loud and obtrusive only accomplishes what has already been accomplished...loudness and obstrusiveness. Smile, be kind, and be understanding in every moment you share with others and you will see first hand the power of compassion. There are no mean people, just people who believe they have to be aggresive to be understood, and the way you react to their attitude will either affirm their position or suggest dropping the affront altogether and be comfortable with who they really are.

I learned words are not as important as being genuine in thought and therefore in action. Even though I recognize I have a mental barrier with conversation and relating to people, people still enjoy my presence and listen to my careful word selections. I do not need to be the center of attention, I would rather be a reflect peace to all people... even the "dickwads."

--------------------
As the life of a candle,
my wick will burn out.
But, the fire of my mind
shall beam into infinite.

I find that painting is very interactive.
you put something out on the canvas and then you react to it - same with the observers.

the power of kindness or gentleness or compassion is like the beginning of a painting, what follows is strongly affected by what has already been put out there.

like the power of underpainting, except every moment is the underpainting for the next. One remembers to apply kindness.

I had an amazingly affirming experience recently when I met Amma, the living Indian Saint. She conducts no miracles, as in rabbit out of the hat tricks, but her life presents itself as a kind of miracle.

The miracle of Love -

This was something incredibly real and true. This lady spends her life hugging people. Thousands everyday and she has been known to hug 50,000 people in a non-stop session running for 22 hrs.

She gives everyone individual attention and never falters - she loves everyone. Her love is true and deep and bears all the hallmarks of being entirely genuine.

It is without bound and extends to all life.

She is anmazing.

And through live she has achieved the most amazing things -

25,000 homes built and given to the poor of India, truly given for free, people were just pulled out of the slums and given homes...100,000 more homes are in the process of being built in a new 10 year plan.

Numerous hospitals, numerous care homes (old people, terminal disease sufferers etc) , an orpanage, colleges, schools, hospices, a university all built and maintained by her actions. Benefitting the most poor and needy.

Pensions for destitute women in India.

50,000 poor fed in India every month, a 'mothers kitchen' project feeding the poor in 35 USA cities & Costa Rica.

Villages rebuilt after the Gujarat Earthquake tragedy.

etc etc etc

It is a marvel of kindness. The saying is: If she had kept all the money that flows through her hands she would be the richest woman in the world.

In fact she owns nothing. Nothing except the most awesome heart.

Love is the message - love is the answer.

Love is real and doing it's work on this planet - and there are no security issues!

I noticed that when someone is being loud and obstrusive, or mean, or cantankerous, maybe they have something bad going on in their lives. I started learning to ask someone who is being an asshole how their day is going, or "Hey, you seem a little upset or something. Is anything wrong?"

So far, out of the several times I have tried this approach, the "asshole" has admitted to something going on that isn't so cool, and they usually seem to be a little calmer by the end of the conversation.

Love and understanding really works! I've started trying it on the customers at the fast food place where I work, and the results are amazing! Pretty much all people have something good in them.

baloney.

I fuckin hate the fact that I am a basically good person, because the only thing its ever gotten me is pain and suffering. I wish I could be evil and not care, like everyone else.

You can be nice to people, but they will just walk all over you. Helping someone else out isn't going to change them, its just going to make them think you are a pushover. Its just going to give them the means to continue being a selfish dickhead.

Look at the great reward Jesus got by being a nice guy.

God prefers martyrs to subjects in abject fear (and 70 virgins helps)

Martyrs guys, God prefers martyrs.

I'll teach you a lesson about faith. Send me $500 and I'll get back to you with that later.

"wah wah jesus was nice and look at what they did to him"

What if you found out that jesus was a well recieved, well liked cool dude here serving a secular agenda?

What if you found out a clone of him, aka Sananda, was made to accept the fate of being crucified to serve another secular groups agenda?

And what if you found out that both agendas were a part of a larger collaborative Agenda with a unified goal?

hmmm...secular:
Worldly rather than spiritual.
Not specifically relating to religion or to a religious body.

"a clone...was made to accept..." No free-will for poor clones?
