hahahaha......this is hilarious, sen. jim jeffords of vermont decided he was going to switch parties(become "independent") and as a result the republicans lose power, office space, and committee assignments....rumor has it that jeffords had some beef with the president over a not being invited to a dinner at the white house(i believe it has more to do with the fact hes from a largely democratic state and doesnt want to lose his job though), whatever it may be jeffords gets the last laugh.......well, jeffords party switch officially fucks up bushs plans and presidency and nothing will be passed for the next 2 years either probably(and if anything does pass the senate, bush will more than likely veto it)......i almost sense a feeling of deja vu (remember the battles between clinton and the republican majority)....i wonder if trent lott has hired a hitmen to knock off jeffords yet?

welcome back from MSNBC: first, almost all senators in this country are neither republican or democratic in principle. they are all moderates lookin to please the most amount of people and avoid offending anyone. second, this really means nothing. there are a group of senators and reps. who switch sides at the drop of a hat. it will not effect the nation that the scandal-starving press wants you to believe it will. lets face it, w/o bill, the news channels need something to fill 24 hours of time. lastly, if you dont believe me, a little lower on the front page of the philadelphia inquirer today, it made note of how GWB tax cut just passed the senate, 62-38. we are all republicans, we are all democrats...the irony drips from that line these days.

Jihead took the words out of my mouth. It means nothing, other then Dick Gephardt is the majority leader now. Wanna know how left-wing Vermont is? They have a socialist governor! An honest to god member of the Socialist Party.

The previous 2 posts took a lot of wind out of my sails because i agree. But remember the checks and balances. The "republicates" have the majority in the house of reps. and the president is a republican. So the way i see it 2 out of 3 checks and balances isn't that bad.
The world is full of idiots and it's up to me to kill them

the new majority leader is the senior senator from my own great state of south dakota, tom daschle. he's a dork. anyway you guys are right, the whole thing is a big joke. there are 12 democrats to vote republican for every democrat vote jefford casts. the whole lot of them are in the pockets of big corporate interests. america is going to hell, along with the rest of the modern industrialized globalizing world, and there is only one way out. stop consuming so much crap, people. our greed will destroy us all.
