Psilocybe sylvatica?
    #3209484 - 10/03/04 10:15 AM (19 years, 5 months ago)

I have been interested in mushrooms for quite some time, and didn't think there would be any growing around me (Michigan) but then I saw on this site that Psilocybe sylvatica can grow here, and happen to be in season now. I can't find much information on them, though, so if anyone knows something any help would be great.

Psilocybe silvatica is rare inthe state of Michigan. IT macroscopically resembles P. pelliculosa and grows in and amongst P. pelliuculosa int he PNW. IT also grows in northern Europe. In the woods it is extremely rare and few.

Saw only found a fwew times in Michigan and upper northern east coast to NEw Brunswick and nova Scotia region.

But is rare.

Even in the PNW, the majority are always P. pelliculosa inthe clear cuts and sometimes in woordchips in gardens and mulched areas, but then here it is rare except in clearcuts.

Thanks for the reply. I had a feeling they'd be rare because of the lack of information I could find on them. I may go searching for them anyways though, because I have a pretty large forest behind my house, and it's supposed to rain tonight.
