KK's Kayaking TRIP
    #3104064 - 09/07/04 03:58 PM (19 years, 6 months ago)

Well last week i went on an awsome adventure in Michigans Upper Peninsula. My brother and i paddled about 20 miles of the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. There is 40 miles of beautyful shoreline, with 200 foot sandstone cliffs and lots of waterfalls. I had fun taking lots of pictures with my camera and thought i'd share them with my friends here in the pub!

The first pictures are of Miners Castle, this was one of the koolest parts of my trip! At the base there are about a dozen little sea caves, we managed to squze into a few of them with are kayaks.

here we found a nice place to take a break on some sandstone ledge, even brought my favorite glass!

this sand stone was so soft you could crumble it with your hands!

a very kool natural archway!!

We stoped here for anther smoke break and found these little pockets in the sandstone. The rocks in them where already polished up from years of tumbling around in them with sand. I lov finding kool rocks!

And now for the water falls! The first one in Miners falls, this is a 30-40 foot waterfall that spits a forceful stream of white spay!

This ones called Munising Falls it has a 40-50 foot drop into a canyon of multicolored rocks. You use to be able to walk behind this fall untill 1995 when  some cav-ins and wipped out some of the pathway, now the have it blocked off! But that diddent stop me!

Now of to Wagner Falls, this one was my favorite. Its kind of small and only drops about 30 feet over a number of heavy rock ledges.
\

I used this one for a shower cauze it was a short distince from one of our campsite's. Its called Scott Falls, it has a medium-sized stream of water that drops about 10 feet into a small pool lined with sand and pebbles. The rock shelf behind the fall has been hollowed out to form a small cave. If you look close you can see some mushrooms growing in it!

Alger Falls, this one droped about 30-40 feet over a number of rock shelves. I sliped on this one and got wet on my way down

If you every get a chance to check this place out do it!

Thats it for now cauze Ripple wont let me have any more upload space   Thanks for taking a look at my pictures! And i hope you all enjoyed them!

thanks for all the kind words!

adom the weather was awsome the whole week!

It was about 75-80 during the day and kooled down to about 60 at night.  But i didn't stay in Lake superior to long cauz that was only 54 degress! I wore my wet suit for a 10 mile strech that had 200 foot cliffs with nowhere to get out! (just incase)

what an awesome thread.

Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.

That must have been a great time KK. You take really good pictures. I could tell you have a good eye for composition when I saw all the pics you took for Dead weekend.

What's up Adom.
