and yes, you have to be certified in Indiana to breed any exotic pets

aww so cute. only one i ever owned was a pissing little bugger that pissed on me every time i held it. they are my favorite mammals to look at though. so damn cute!

ahh so its a state thing. do you need a permits for every species, or is there like a permit per family/genus type deal?

well when i applied for the packet, it asked
Quote:
What species of animal(s) do you own or will you be using?

What type of activity are you intending to do with the animals? (such as breeder, dealer, exhibitor, research, transportation handler, or transportation carrier)

Are you, or will you be, a traveling exhibitor? Yes or No

so i guess it will include all exotic animals.... since animal(s) was plural..

looking back on the request for application packet, the entire usa is covered, they have it split up eastern/western maybe its a federal thing

i'll know more when i get my packet in

i only recently decided to go into the glider business

Sugar gliders rock! Good for you  . I know a guy who owned one in my dorm, and it would glide out his door (from on top of his lofted bed) and land on the drinking fountain down the hall. He had carpet strips on the wall so it could climb up to his bed and shelves. It loved to bury itself in my flannel shirt- so cute! Congrats on knowing so much about them that you're a breeder!  Very cool

usually canabilism ( sp?) results from improper diet ( one of the biggest obstacle with gliders) or by the fact the mother is too young to care for the joeys ( baby)

i would say that the age thing  is the main problem with pet stores.... they are only into the $$$  not doing things the proper way.

sheik i will keep you in mind when i am ready to sell, though i have no clue where your at,  and i am not comfortable shipping long distances. if your fairly close to indiana we could meet 1/2 way, or  i do know of a breeder in FL that has air shipping down to a science if your interested.

there is only 3 breeders i have found in Indiana, and the demand is more then they can handle, so i should have no problem selling my joeys WITHOUT having to air ship or dealing  with pet stores .....  lol my buddy manages a pet store, and he is on me big time to supply them with my gliders.....  but i dont wanna.... sux to be him lol
