News that makes front page here

Im glad I live in a corner of the world with low crime and all that but I think im gonna stop subscribing to the newspaper here, here is why:
front page yesterday: 6 year old kids on a new school likes it there and are no longer so nervous about going to school. the teachers are looking forward to a new schoolyear

todays front page: a 66 year old man have caught a hawk with his hands in his hen house. isnt that just exiting.

in other news we can hear about how a small community noone have ever heard of before with 20 people are building a new church by voluntary communal work.

most of the time i just skip right to calvin and hobbes. the newspaper reminds of some women living here that only gossip. only now its written on paper and you actually must pay to hear the gossip. 

and that is whats going on in large cities like chicago, los angeles and the middle of nowhere here.

I think it's nice to have some local stories, that's what makes a community.  But I have to fully agree that our big newspapers are sadly lacking in the news department. And the tv news is a billion times worse.  It makes me really really angry!  I don't watch it anymore at all for that reason. It makes my blood boil!  But definitely I sometimes find stuff in the newspaper worth reading. I just don't subscribe anymore because of the poor beautiful murdered trees. Online news rawks!

I used to live in a very small town when I was much younger. The worst crime to happen in the last 10 yrs was a stolen car.

Geez, I got put on probation for writing my name in wet cement!
That's how bored the cop was in that town.

That sounds like some of the crap that would go on in the little town that I had to endure adolescence in. The cops NEVER had anything to do so they would pull you in for the stupidest things.

heh , yeah cops here usually seems to use their time with either chasing teenagers who smoks pot or standing with a lazer in some ditch trying to catch people who drives too fast so they look somewhat like they actually are doing something for our tax money.

then, next story... a seculded town builds new church...... yea, a church a SATAN. :satan:

why would the 6 yr old kid be nervous about going to school? cause she didnt want to learn about worsihiping satan maybe...

and the man catching a hawk, protector of the skies.... think about it... :yesnod:

:grin: i always found norwegian newspapers hillarious - especially a local paper called "Firda" - the paper for Fjaler Kommune (so Shriek knows how rural of an area I'm talking about :grin: ) Great articles about "local man claims fish biting less this year in fjord" :smile:

They put in a new cafeteria in the local hospital here. It was "a big hit with employees and guests". Oh boy! :laugh: :rolleyes:
