I wanted my first post here to be a proper confessional.

My first grow was with an AIO bag, not nearly enough research, and a dream.

Upon discovering cultivation was something accessible to me, my first step was to get my hands on an LC of PE because those were all the major buzz words in all the media I had seen that led me to being curious.

I ordered my AIO bag and LC separately from separate vendors. Upon arrival, I injected the ENTIRE syringe of LC into the bag. In open air. Without heating the needle because I assumed the 'medical grade' needles I always have on hand would be, good 'nuff.

I can't for the life of me find pictures of this cake while it was still in the bag. It was not quite oozing metabolites but.. still quite a lot.
I did the bag cut at 100% colonization and waited for maybe 4 days with no pins or signs of pinning. (from what I could tell at that point)

I ended up moving it to the hell box..


This tub was cracked all over and taped back together with packing tape. Micropore tape on all FAE holes. Soggy sphagnum moss in the bottom, and an upside down tupperware bin with the cake on top.

There were times the tub was in the floor, various room switches. At one point I even placed it on top of my ball python's enclosure where the thermo in the tub was reading temps in the low 80s.

The one consistent thing about this tub was the humidity.. 100% At all times.

I cried when this thing finally pinned y'all. I was banking a lot more of my mental well being that I should have been on this.


My first flush came shortly after, of which I dried all with great excitement.


Shortly after that.. Trich.
I was devastated.. cried all over again. Searched all over for ways I could save this.
That's when I learned agar and somehow despite having a fold up flimsy glove box I was able to get a clone from the second and last flush and much later down the line do a 'proper' grow.
Still using Sphagnum for some reason but hey I got 3 good flushes from this cake.

This still refreshes in my "Threads" tab, which I use almost exclusively anyway. Diverting traffic from the forum to Beefs journal was a wildly self defeating move, but fuck it - I can scratch my nuts over here just as easily. πŸ€·πŸ½β€β™‚οΈ

Id call that a win.  My first tub was a 66q beast and i got the silliest little fruits.  Second run i tried the same thing again with some coffee grounds in my substrate and rotted the whole thing.  Ten qts down the drain.

People are doing way better on their first runs in general and that makes me really glad to see.
