Dang, those are nice. I might need to reconsider my methods. I spent hours combing through the dune grass near the shore pines and scotch broom last weekend with no luck. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever found more than the occasional solitary azzie, never “patches” like in your photos. Just tons of laccaria and suillus

Best advice is walk very very far and keep going when you find one check nearby.

The spots close to the parking lots are more picked the further from the lots you get the better they get.
Follow the elk paths ideally use a stick to spread the grass to get different views in areas that are last years paths that you can easily see the bottom of the path and look where you step every time when you find one in the middle of the path check throughout the thick grass surrounding the area where you found some in the path.

Happy hunting mush love

Also get down low and push the grass to the side with your hands. Just walking looking at your feet you’ll miss most of them in the grass.

You have good eyes. Those are so well camouflaged I would've walked right passed them.
Nice find.

Ive been training em for quite some time to spot em.

Sometimes i miss some that are very well blended in and at night using a flashlight to the ground sideways you can see them cast a shadow over the chips ive found quite a few patches that way

Seattle seems to be starting even though a lack of rain. These are from a patch last year that produced 20oz dry in one small 10x10 foot bush. The city workers dug up the bush and placed fresh chips down and these mushrooms are now only growing on the perimeter of the patch so far; im hoping to god the city workers didn't tear up all the mycelium when they took the bush out as this patch had genetics for the largest thickest stiped cyans i have ever seen in my life, and the patch fruited for 2 months straight with extremely prolific flushes. Just check last years thread to see the craziness 😆. Even if they don't grow in the middle of the woodchip bed there is already 100s of pins popping up in the perimeter of the bed hiding in the grass, but i think with enough rain this spot could come back with a vengeance and produce even more than last year!! Crazy to think a 10x10 foot area produced more cyanescens in one location than my previous best record of 10oz dry in a 30x500 foot woodchip bed with sporadic clusters throughout!

Just had a very interesting experience 😅

I found a nice palmful at one of my local spots for the first time this season, so I decided to check another couple spots.

On my way to the last spot, this car behind me with CA plates comes in hot where it merges to one lane in central Lincoln City (in front of hilltop cafe). They didn't get in front of me, but got around where it splits into two lanes in Taft.

After this, I end up behind them and turning into the same access south of Taft.

A couple minutes pass with me walking through dune grass, and one of the folks came over my direction.

He asked what I was looking for and if he could see in my basket.

I told him I was looking for floats and that I hadn't found any yet. He then asked if I knew anywhere to buy mushrooms or if they are around this time of year (seems the tailgating is just how that car drives on a rainy day.)

We continued to have a good conversation and made the mention I might know where to find some mushrooms because I picked about a quarter ounce last week at a different spot. I told him I live close and we could meet up but it would probably be 30 to 45 minutes.

I then made a bold choice to show him what I had in my basket from the previous spots (maybe 2-3 grams dried).

He asked me how much for everything in my basket, and I said $15. He handed me a 20 and said he would gladly take them off my hands and thanked me for giving him something a little extra special on their trip up from California.

I guess the PSA is that not everyone in California is an asshole just because they drive that way, it's just a different perspective and I was able to share a little love with those people.

End report💜
