Quitting my job today * 3

15 years with this org, and I have finally come to a point where the thought of coming into another day of work sounds damaging to my mental health.

Am leaving behind a lot of projects and unfortunately people, but need to make this decision for my own well being. The management at the top of this place has changed for the worse. For a mental health org, it is anything but that for its employees.

So anyways, yeah.. people have always told me dont quit your job before getting another lined up, but I dont have another lined up. Just going to have to figure it out and hope somewhere some of the connections I made, or tools I have can open a door down the road.

Good luck with the job search; I am going to quit my job once I find another. I have an interview coming up next week, and hopefully, they hire me. I am a convicted felon, so it is hard to find work. Most places just decide to choose someone else before they even get to the point of checking my background. I can't work only. 30 hrs a week my hours got cut back.

Good luck Mick.

I for one have quit many jobs without something lined up and it's usually gone okay. If you're doing it for the reasons of self preservation it's never a bad idea imo.

@Jon how you going with the looking?

Job hunting is going well, and I hope the position I am setting up an interview for will pan out. It is through a staffing agency, but once I am hired on, there may be more pay; I do not know yet.

Man thank you all for the replies, and messages.

It has been a hard week. A lot of feelings of guilt over leaving the work, and colleagues in the way I did. My brain literally still fucking hurts from working so hard, and probably for beating myself up over leaving. But am trying to let go, its going to be a process. 15 years really carves out some routines, and to suddenly not have any of those, or the relationships that came with them - is almost like going into a depression. Am so grateful for the supports I have outside of work though, including here, to help get through that.

That place was so incredibly unhealthy for me, and I really think I wouldve worked myself to death if I stayed. Absolutely no idea what to do next, but thats ok for right now. Still just healing.
