Bush misspeaks, says his administration seeking 'new ways to harm our country'
Associated Press
WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Bush offered up a new entry for his catalog of "Bushisms" on Thursday, declaring that his administration will "never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people."
Bush misspoke as he delivered a speech at the signing ceremony for a $417 billion defense spending bill.
"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we," Bush said. "They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we."
No one in Bush's audience of military brass or Pentagon chiefs reacted.
The president was working his way toward a larger point. "We must never stop thinking about how best to defend our country. We must always be forward-thinking," he said.
White House spokesman Scott McClellan said Bush's misstatement "just shows even the most straightforward and plain-spoken people misspeak."
"But the American people know this president speaks with clarity and conviction, and the terrorists know by his actions he means it," McClellan said.
Let's review here:
Bush: "They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we."
Lacky Goon: "But the American people know this president speaks with clarity and conviction, and the terrorists know by his actions he means it,"
Yup, and I certainly know by his clarity that he really does mean he'll never stop harming this country.

The way I look at, if our president is this much of a disaster, than at least he should provide comedy and proof that life is so absurd that we put utter morons in charge of our lives.

You can end now, because I'm sure I feel the exact same way.

Hrmmm, maybe if you think about what they can do to harm you, it allows you to try and protect against those actions.
Now maybe he did not orginally intend to say that but it does work. Semantics is a tricky subject which a great deal of left leaning people just cannot grasp.

I'm sure he meant that his administration never stops thinking about what terrorists are up to. I'm wondering whether he just misspoke, or if he was reading that word for word off of a sheet of paper, because CLEARLY what he said was a really stupid thing to say, or at least stupid way of saying it.

Oops, didn't realize this would stir up some heat. Just thought it was lighthearted.
If any mods do move it, just delete it as the political board already has some threads on it.
