'House' Plants. * 5
    #29687938 -

I recently counted about 56 house plants in my care.
This is paring some duplicates, and considering some same species grown in different ways as separate plants.
also not counting 5 4x2x2 bio active enclosures full of plants.
So all in all not a super accurate count.

I still feel like a could add 10 or 15 more any time I see a collection.
Do I have a problem?

Better yet let me see your plants!

Here are some recent shots.

I've never thought to count them, I did an internship on a psych ward about 6 years ago and got to take home a jade plant that the residents there grew. It got big and turned into a bunch more so I have lots of those... which are good because my cats leave them alone

Anything else, the cats destroy. They'll eat them until they puke. I'm able to keep some in hard to reach places and have one of those clear plastic grow tent things with some spider plants, pothos, cacti. I'll have to snap some pics tomorrow

I just got a really beautiful Maranta Leuconeura aka prayer plant.
Never even seen this plant until recently, its leaves are really amazing and they fold upward at night like hands praying.

That is a pretty serious number of plants; I do not have room in my place, but it would be nice to have some, just not in a tiny room.

Very nice!

I have three indoor light gardens.  Mini begonias, mini coleus, small ivy's, syngonium (the small salmon variety), mini gesneriads (violets and Sinningia), Dieffenbachia, various Tradescantia, 3 varieties of Chlorophytum (spider plants) and grape ivy.  Most are in 50/50 perlite peat mix.  Some are in water culture.  And recently I've been experimenting with semi-hydroponic (straight perlite with 2-4 inches of nutrient solution). I just use shops lights - nothing fancy.

I've been waiting for the right time to add one of these to my collection.
Beautiful foliage always impress me more than flowers I find and any prayer plant I see impresses very much.

This is impressive!
I remember when our cacti/succulent table was evenly spaced like this.. need to remedy.

I'm a sucker for anything vining, I get shit sometimes for wanting to prop every wandering vine I come across.

I've been experimenting with various sand & soil mixes for my cacti / succulents. I am also a big peat & perlite fan for my thirstier plants but I do add a touch of my bug compost for some species.

I have a Tupperware mini-pond for riparian growth, full of snails and micro worms for a self feeding system. As well as a bog bowl of peace lilly + a couple nepenthes that are my biggest drinkers.

None of these seem to photograph well anytime I try tho

Love to hear more about the shop lights, I'm probably over spending shooting for "Full Spectrum Grow Lights" but they called me full spectrum too and I turned out alright.

If you're open to recommendations there are probably some succulents that would fit your bill, or even an orchid if you're feeling lucky!

I live in 80sqft room and have literally every space occupied except the center.  Its unheard of I know but I refuse to live somewhere like a studio apartment where I can't save money. :dancingbear:

BTW, although your floorspace may be 8 x 10, you can always put up shelves.

A perimeter of grape ivy hanging by jute strung from the ceiling

Do you keep Dubias as pets, or are you feeding something, OP?

Most house plants are out but need to start coming in for the winter.

People like giving me their dead houseplants, and usually I can manage like this (voraciously growing) lil one that was transplanted last week and at this rate, will soon grow out of this pot!

I did not look at every picture- but to anyone else that likes dangling, pretty foliage: Wandering Jew.
:pm: if anyone wants a rooted starter- very easy to establish.

(Really posting to find out about the dubia:grin:)

Beautiful plants! I loooove tradescantia's!
I have a few single cuttings of wandering jew on my mini ponds moss wall I'm hoping to prop soon.

The dubias I keep for various reasons, pet, clean up crew, and food for my rescues.

I find them so charming tho it's really difficult for me to feed with them.

If it wasn't a rescue situation I don't think I could do live eating reptiles.

The bug eaters:

Solar Flare - Leopard Gecko

Laura Borealis - Leopard Gecko - MBD Survivor

Sheila - Bearded Dragon

I don't have ages for them unfort but all 3 came from the same home, substandard conditions.
Also have a Ball Python (Lil-Man) and a Corn Snake (Cajun)

These are beautiful! Love that dark purple tradescantia.
Found one trampled one the ground at this years state fair and managed to get a small pup from it before it became goo in my prop jar.

Ruby says hi!

Edit- meant to include, I feel for the dubias, as well.
There are these adorable lil trilobite terrestrial garden dwellers I grew up calling 'pill bugs.' Some call them rolly pollies because they curl into a ball- that's what the dubias remind me of

They have a 20 gal and I added a separate 'breeding colony' so even if food, I give them the very best environment and yummy chow aside from gut loader.

This is embarrassing, but I leave the lil guys and right before feeding as I lower them into Ruby's tank via tong, I whisper, "I hope you are a tiger" "Return as dolphin," etc.

It helps me, maybe them

Ruby is so sweet!

I have a few variants of pillbug (isopods) lil land crustaceans, I adore them so much.
I keep them around as a cleanup crew but I am sure my geckos have probably hunted a few.

I used to also have a pet spider (Dysdera Crocata) what is evolutionary inclined to munch on isopods and quite good at bypassing their armor.
just as a fun fact I guess :stoned:
