Hello friends! 👋🍄
As promised, I wanted to make a post showing my current chamber setup. Since I’m a new member here, I’m really interested in seeing what everybody else is rocking and learning from the community. I’m also hoping to make some new connections along the way!

I’ve already met a few awesome people here, so SHOUT OUT TO @AGIE WEDGED (IYKYK) 🫶🏻🙂❤️ for the support and the gift! I really appreciate it!

Drop some pics of your setups below and let me know what techniques, tips, or little tricks you’ve found that have made the biggest difference in your grows. I’m always looking to learn and improve.

Thanks everyone, and mush love! 🍄❤️

Hey, do the tubs have any holes in them? How do they ventilate?

I can't tell from the photos.

Hugs

From my current research and testing, it appears that these specific Sterilite bins aren’t completely airtight when the lids are closed, which should allow for some natural air exchange.

My plan is to flip the lids when the tubs are ready for fruiting and allow the pins to develop toward the lid. Once they reach that stage, I’m planning to transition to a dub-tub setup to help maintain humidity and reduce the chance of the substrate drying out prematurely.

I’m still testing this approach, so I’d definitely appreciate any feedback or suggestions from people who have experience with this style of tub. ❤️

In general, 'keeping it closed during colonization' and 'opening it to fruit' is no longer recommended. You use fruiting conditions right from the start — air exchange isn't a bad thing.

I recommend taking a look at the Pastywhyte’s Ez dialed monotubs — it's a great 'set and forget' system.

If you read his post he said the lids aren't airtight and allow gas exchange. Lots of folks running unmodified shoeboxes with great success.

My shoeboxes have the purple latches, so I just flip them under the lid when I want to increase FAE

Mine do too (not purple). I have some older tubs that I modified with holes, but the FAE was too much and it dried out quickly, just lifting the lid with the handles works great.

Even if you fail, success is the knowledge gained along the way.

I always found getting the spawn mixed even on the bottom and in the corners to be a pita. Had to develop a whole choreography to ensuring it made it to all the edges.

Small tubs can be great but the important thing is to learn to read the organism. Some configurations don’t work the same for everyone’s environment, so the main thing when it comes to fruiting chambers is to use something pretty standard when starting and dial in.

Thanks for the shout out, happy to help where I can:mushroom2:

This is my only type of fruiting chamber I use these days, a 6.5 qt storage tote from Lowe's. I leave them latched the whole time and they work great. They have extra head room which is nice. It's like somebody took the classic 6qt and said, how can we make it better for shrooms growers :hehehe::mushroom2:

I use these same shoeboxes as mini water tubs for cakes. Add a small amount of water in the bottom, place the cake on a plastic ball lid, ready to rock n roll:rockon:
