I have those thorn armor ones. I still get poked on the side of my fingers every now and then, but they work really well. They are kinda pricey, but have better dexterity and thorn resistance than leather gloves IME.



@Galt- that looks like sun damage. Higher temps can increase the risk of sunburn, so can dry soil.

Though I’m not quite sure what’s the deal with that pup, do they usually look like that?

Looks like short form to me. And the pups often come out weird like that. They will plump up as they grow in fully.

Brought mine in already to dry out for winter. We can get some late sep early oct freezes so I don't want to chance it. lost a few in the past like that.

It’s certainly not variegation, and if you haven’t moved it it’s not sun burn but could possibly be related to the heat. I don’t like how it looks though, if it were mine I would isolate it and see what it does.

End of my summer. Those tbm-b went crazy. That's one year. But I had them under lights all winter. These seedlings are going under lights this winter.

hard to tell but there's actually 5 flowers in this picture, 4 finally bloomed from this


and here's the one branch with a single bloom, same cactus



funny thing is, i was about to prune the plant, but decided to let it flower when i saw it budding.  then the day after this picture was taken, the top 18" broke off from the weight of the flowers.  so then i cut off another 2' to prune that branch nearly to the bottom.

now i've got over 3' in the freezer, i plan to cut off the skin and spines, and remove the juicy part from the core, and dehydrate that, then make it into a powder.  not sure what i'm going to do with the powder, yet, though. (not sure if i want to make it into powder or not, tea could be best with dried chunks or something... this would be my first time consuming a significant dose of cactus, not sure if i want tea or what, any suggestions?)


I have recently grafted 2 peyotl onto the smaller plant on the right, will probably graft more after waiting a while (but before winter sets in).  Then i plan to cut off the top 1' of each cactus including the grafts next year(?), to root those and start a-new.
