Poison Seller: Former Chef assists in Suicide Attempts * 1
    #29677382 -

I read the BBC news wire almost every day.  I prefer it to most US media, as it tends to produce a variety of news more relevant to my interests, not so dominated by political considerations.

Just now, I came across this article, the first I'd seen the story:

Initially, I thought this was a nefarious character misrepresenting a product as safe, that was in fact deadly.  However, upon reading the article, it appears that some guy was simply offering folks who wanted to end their lives, the means to do it.

This harkens back to my younger days, as a supporter of Dr. Kavorkian, who was another headline figure who actively aided folks in their intention to end their lives.

My perspective on this, is that Kavorkian likely took better care in advising his patients about their decision, and giving them a real opportunity to realize the permanent ramifications of their request before following through.  Perhaps the newer guy, Kenneth Law, wasn't as discerning about how he went about "helping" people, and if that's the case, that is very unfortunate.

But I still believe, despite never recommending anyone take such a path, that an individual should be able to seek to end their own life on their terms, if that is truly what they wish to do.

What do you think about assisted suicide in general?  Have you heard of either of these folks?

988LifeLine.org is available to anyone who might need someone to talk to right now.  Stick around, you never know what kinda crazy shit might happen next! :heartpump:

There are many scammers in the poison selling business, it is a business, see: My emails with Tesch & Stabenow.

Some offer legitimate euthanasia agents, like barbiturates, others offer intensely poisonous substances like sodium cyanide, which in many cases actually cause a quite horrific drawn-out death instead of the quick exit the movies promise.

Moreover, if you get something at all it might not be what you ordered, or in the potency you ordered, and may in fact be something that is lethal, but in a horrible way you wouldnt have opted for if you had known what was really in it. Most people in this are not expert toxicologists.

Interestingly we had Shroomerites abuse a poison seller to buy barbiturates, not as an exit but to get smashed on as a recreational drug, a way more life affirming purpose :sun:

With my knowledge of pharmacology and all that, I recommend against using the pharmacological route, and if you must, not using a route that may expel the drug in the death struggle, so oral and rectal routes are out.

Please do not use poison to end it. Almost always it is gnarly and has a risk not just of excessive suffering but also, failing with you emerging to it with permanent damage, giving you way more problems than you had to begin with.

Choose life, please.

BBC will tow the line of the British government, the did a piece on carnivore diet, they interviewed some of the carnivore influencers in the space, BBC asked them about their political leanings in the interviews, and BBC made a video only with the clips about how the influencers were rightwing, and discarded all the clips about how the diet effected their health, just made their news video about politics in carnivore

Shroomerites share their adventures :sun:

Another Shroomerite once bought a pound of pure Alprazolam, an amount equivalent to a quarter million Xanax bars. I believe, that did not end well :uhoh:

Shroomerites have some pretty wild drug adventures sometimes.

Benzos are notorious for getting in blackouts and goibbling more while not realizing what you're doing. Xanax is especially notorious for this.

In the old days of RC benzos there was a dirt cheap, highly potent, very longacting one called Phenazepam. People notoriously ended up in 1-2 week blackouts crashing vehicles and coming to in hospitals and jails, or completely at odds with their loved ones while having no recollection about what went down.

Yeah honestly the reason i would want it is to stay on 2mg a day with occasional breakthrough and if my doctor cuts me off one day i wont be fucked however you're completely correct and if I had that much my manageable 2mg a day would grow and grow and grow until boom disaster. Its odd though i used to be on 9mg a day never once had a blackout. Granted i dont remember much from that time period I suppose it was all one big blackout but I never did anything reckless or super uncharacteristic of me.

That being said im very glad im not on 9mg a day it gave me wayyyy more anxiety than it solved.

Kenneth Law has been in media a lot in canada. Law was selling sodium nitrate and a mask/hood thing. Amazon also got caught selling the chemical and frequently bought together feature showed people a book on suicide. This guy made over 300 thousand selling suicide kits to anyone who wanted one. Its one thing to sell the poison alone, its the "how to" part of it that's illegal. We have laws against counselling people to kill themselves. He was in pro suicide online groups, I am not a fan of that type of shit. Its like pro eating disorders or self harm cutting community, I am disappointed that shit exists. Its one thing to wallow in your own misery but dont encourage others.

Its fucking sad how many people have ended their lives in canada with government suicide program, even worse is how many have been refused, lots of very unhappy people, so i guess death kits are a big industry. Not one one fucking politician is asking why all these people want to end things, they will argue back and forth about the regulations being to hard or too weak, but no one askes how can we help all these people.

If I got news I had something terminal and got refused the government service i would buy fentanyl and DIY

That is a nonpoisonous substance, you got the name wrong.
The poisonous substance with the different formula should not be used for suicide. It can lead to a death that involves loads of suffering. It is not suitable. It is not euthanasia.

Several wonderful chemicals for amateur chemistry were prohibited for sale because people try to kill themselves with it.

I'm probably not going to make it easier for people to off themselves, especially when they could just drink themselves to death like our grandfathers did.

When the tomato was new to Europe, it was assumed they were deadly poisonous.

It has happened that, when a criminal was caught, he was forced to eat a plate of tomatoes then kicked out of town :rotfl:

I'm strongly in favor of euthanasia that is properly regulated. I believe that choosing to die with dignity is a human right.

One more reason not to leave the Netherlands :sun:

I absolutely do not want to die, and certainly not by my own hand (no religious objections against suicide exist in Omnicyclion, just a strong personal preference)  or by that of a physician (more objectionable spiritually actually than doing it yourself as you leave someone behind who has killed you) but if it had to happen I'd prefer the soldier's checkout (hand grenade held to the head) to formal euthanasia (even though i'm not looking to get into Valhalla, lol)

At some point which is hard to draw a real tangible line for, someone selling or providing poison for the purpose of suicide is themselves promoting it and acting as a major influence for that decision.

There's cult-like communities built around talking people into suicide, talking folks into coming to terms with 'their' decisions, members who provide the poisons and talk through how to use them, the rejection and banning of voices attempting to get people to see other options other than suicide. Pretty dark armpits of the internet really.

It gets to the point that it's less a medical decision and more that vulnerable people susceptible to influencing get caught in a community built around watching and egging them on to die rather than a community built around keeping them alive.

There's a real argument to be made for legal assisted suicide in extreme cases where quality of life is impossible to maintain. But absent any real process for trying other things first and for medically/psychologically determining who really fits that category of incurable and having a permanently poor quality of life, then real sadists who obsess over this kind of thing unhealthily fill that gap in people vulnerable to it.

Government regulated suicide programs unfortunately can suffer from the same issues. I'm sure there are plenty of right ways to run such a program, but the people who choose to themselves live while helping others die just naturally brings in a lot of weirdos and sadists that themselves aren't right in the head and whom end up influencing decisions or taking critical roles in communities that influence those decisions, more than if they hadn't existed in those positions in the first place.

Noooo Plllease Don’t make me eat th… hmm golly these are pretty good actually…

But - really sad about those young kids. I am generally on the side of people should be able to make their own decisions regarding their bodies and lives.

Suicide gets a little tricky because of the impact on survivors. And even more so with young people - 19 years or so, you have barely started life, don’t have enough experience to possess the full scope what you’re doing at that age.
