Anyone here a Chef?

I've been working for about a month now, as a Chef's apprentice. It wasn't for any particular reason, other than I needed money. Turns out, I actually like it. The chef said I had a nice talent for it, since I'm able to keep up easily. Also, he would teach me anything I need to know or sign any papers for culinary school. I just actually like workin' in the kitchen. It seems fun to me. I really don't dread going there in the morning. I mean, yea, it is tiring, but its not so bad. I know Chef's don't make an assload of money, but it still would be a pretty nice career. I was just wondering if anyone here also works in a kitchen or is a chef. Did you go to culinary school or not?

I'm not. Pretty damn full at the moment. One of the perks of workin' in a kitchen.

Nothing that are mind-blowing. Just some common breakfast foods, is all that I know by heart right now.
Well..that and some cheesecakes.

I majored in culinary arts in high school and went on to Johson & Wales college to get a culinary arts degree.
It was there that I realized that I enjoyed cooking too much to do it for a living. If I were forced to cook all day, I'd never want to do it for pleasure, so, I went into other vocations instead.

Yes. It was a vocational-technical high school. When I joined it in my sophomore year, they had just built a $4,500,000 wing that included a $1,000,000+ state-of the-art industrial kitchen.
Since auto shop was full, it was suggested that I take C.A. (only 8 students in the class the first year it was offered).
The second year, it filled up before any other major.

My school had a $2,000,000 kitchen with each wing costing at least $5,000,000.
And it had a rocket ship launch pad.
I went into space like, 100 times.

I've considered going to culinary school off and on. I've had the pleasure of spending alot of time in a 4 star kitchen, and I enjoyed it. I didnt actualy cook or wash dishes or anything, I was a bellman and just would hang out with the chefs.
it's always appealed to me, I say, if you like it go for it. Jobs you enjoy are rare

I was fired as a waiter for "playing around too much." What do you expect when the entire restaurant is run with kids from your highschool?

I've been a line / prep cook for a few years now.. I think about going to culinary school every once in a while, but then, there's other things I'd like to do too.
