Make Daedra playable race in Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel
    #29649072 -

A Fan Proposal for a Playable Daedra or Half-Daedra Race in The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel

To the Bethesda Game Studios developers and the team working on The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel,

I have a proposal for a new playable race that I genuinely believe could add something extremely special to The Elder Scrolls VI: a playable Daedra or half-Daedra race.

I know this is a big idea, but that is exactly why I think it deserves consideration. The Elder Scrolls has always been at its best when it allows players to inhabit unusual characters and explore Tamriel from perspectives that are not completely ordinary. A playable Daedric race could take that concept further than almost anything the series has done before.

My idea would be for the player to be able to create a character who is either:

* A Daedra who escaped Oblivion and chose to live peacefully in Tamriel.
* A half-Daedra, descended from Daedra who escaped Oblivion generations ago and eventually had children with humans, particularly Imperials.
* Or potentially a distinct Daedric-descended people who have existed in Hammerfell long enough to develop their own identity and culture.

They could simply be called Daedra, Half-Daedra, or given an entirely new Elder Scrolls-specific name.

The important part is that they would not be ordinary evil Daedra.

A Different Kind of Daedra

The character would be a humanoid being with obvious Daedric characteristics, but unlike the Daedra encountered as enemies throughout the series, this population would have developed its own society, morality, personalities, and relationships.

They would not inherently be evil.

Some might be kind. Some might be selfish. Some might be heroic. Some might be criminals. Some might be religious. Some might distrust humans. Some might desperately want to prove that they are not monsters.

In other words, they would be people.

This could create one of the most interesting racial identities in Elder Scrolls history: a character who visually resembles the monsters that Tamriel has spent thousands of years fighting, while personally being no more inherently evil than an Imperial, Nord, Breton, Redguard, Dunmer, or Khajiit.

That distinction could become a major part of the character’s story.

Appearance

Visually, I imagine the race being beautiful but distinctly supernatural.

They could have:

* Red or blue skin.
* Long, sharp fingernails.
* Slightly elongated or pointed ears.
* Sharp vampire-like teeth.
* Horns of different shapes and sizes.
* Glowing red, glowing blue, or ordinary-colored eyes.
* Dark or unusual hair colors.
* A generally humanoid and attractive appearance rather than looking like one of the monstrous Daedra already found in the games.

Character creation could allow the player to choose:

Skin:
Red, blue, and potentially other Daedric shades.

Eyes:
Normal eyes, glowing red eyes, glowing blue eyes, etc.

Horns:
Small horns, large horns, curved horns, straight horns, different orientations and shapes.

Teeth:
Normal-looking teeth or more pronounced sharp teeth.

Nails:
Normal nails or long, claw-like fingernails.

This would give players enormous freedom to create a character who looks intimidating, elegant, beautiful, strange, or monstrous.

And importantly, they could become vampires.

Imagine a Daedric-descended character becoming a vampire and having their appearance change further, including the classic glowing red vampire eyes.

That would be an incredibly cool combination that Elder Scrolls players could experiment with.

The Tiefling Comparison

I realize this idea has similarities to the playable Tieflings in Baldur’s Gate 3, and honestly, I think that is a compliment rather than a problem.

Tieflings demonstrate how compelling it can be to have a humanoid race that visually resembles supernatural beings and has horns, unusual skin colors, sharp features, and a complicated relationship with ordinary society.

But The Elder Scrolls should not simply copy Tieflings.

Instead, Bethesda could create its own uniquely Elder Scrolls interpretation of a Daedric-descended people.

The difference would be enormous because Elder Scrolls already has thousands of years of lore surrounding Daedra, Oblivion, the Daedric Princes, mortal civilizations, and the complicated relationship between mortals and supernatural beings.

This would be an opportunity to do something that only Elder Scrolls could really do.

Why Would They Be in Hammerfell?

I think Hammerfell is actually the perfect location for this concept.

Hammerfell has a long history of conflict, independence, cultural diversity, ancient civilizations, outsiders, and people who have had to survive in an unforgiving environment.

Imagine that centuries ago, a small group of Daedra became tired of the eternal conflicts of Oblivion.

They wanted something completely different.

They wanted ordinary lives.

They wanted families.

They wanted homes.

They wanted to eat food, work, make friends, fall in love, have children, experience the sunrise, travel, build businesses, and simply exist without constantly serving a Daedric Prince or fighting mortals.

So they escaped Oblivion.

At first, Tamriel did not accept them.

Understandably, people were terrified.

They looked like Daedra.

They had horns.

They had unnatural eyes.

They had sharp teeth.

And people knew exactly what Daedra had done to Tamriel throughout history.

But generations passed.

Some of these Daedra proved that they could live peacefully among mortals.

Some had children with humans.

Eventually, a distinct population of Daedric-descended people developed.

Sentinel Could Be Their Home

This is where Sentinel could become particularly interesting.

I would love for Sentinel to be portrayed as one of the most progressive and cosmopolitan cities in Hammerfell.

It could be a place where this unusual population has gradually become accepted.

Not necessarily universally loved.

Not everyone has to be accepting.

But they could have rights, businesses, families, homes, professions, and a recognized place in society.

A Daedric-looking character could walk through Sentinel and encounter other people who simply regard them as another citizen.

You could enter a tavern and see a horned Daedric woman drinking with Redguards.

You could see a Daedric merchant running a shop.

You could encounter a Daedric child playing in the street.

You could meet a Daedric blacksmith.

You could encounter a Daedric scholar studying Oblivion because they are fascinated by where their ancestors came from.

That would make the world feel alive.

But Don’t Make Everyone Accepting

I actually think the game should not make everyone tolerant.

This is where I think The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind provides a great example.

Morrowind had racial and cultural tensions that made the world feel believable. The player could be a Dunmer and still be treated as an outsider because they were an outlander.

I would love to see something similar here.

A Daedra character could be accepted in Sentinel but encounter suspicion elsewhere in Hammerfell.

Some NPCs might stare.

Some might refuse to sell them something.

Some might be frightened.

Some might make insulting comments.

Some might genuinely believe that all Daedra are evil.

Others might defend the player.

And some people might not care at all.

That would make the character’s race feel meaningful without turning every interaction into a simplistic morality lesson.

The player could gradually earn people’s respect through their actions.

That is very Elder Scrolls.

The Player Is Still an Outlander

There could also be an important distinction between race and nationality.

A Daedra who was born in Sentinel might consider themselves completely Hammerfelli.

But if the player character comes from somewhere else, they could still be regarded as an outsider.

This is similar to how an individual can share the same ancestry or appearance as people in another country while still being culturally foreign because they were born somewhere else.

So a Daedric character could say:

“I’m a Sentinel-born Daedra. My family has lived here for generations.”

And another character might respond:

“That may be true. But you’re still not from here.”

That kind of cultural distinction would fit Elder Scrolls extremely well.

Special Backstories

The race could also have unique starting backgrounds.

For example:

The Escaped Daedra

You are actually a Daedra who escaped Oblivion relatively recently.

You remember Oblivion.

You remember your former existence.

You may have enemies who want you returned.

You may have knowledge of Daedric realms that ordinary mortals do not possess.

You are trying to build a new life.

The Sentinel-Born

Your family has lived in Sentinel for generations.

You consider yourself completely Hammerfelli.

You have never lived in Oblivion.

You know Daedric history only through stories told by your ancestors.

You are treated by many people as a normal citizen, although some outsiders still fear you.

The Half-Daedra Outlander

You were born somewhere else in Tamriel.

You have Daedric ancestry but have never really belonged anywhere.

You arrive in Sentinel hoping to discover more about your heritage.

The Daedric Exile

Your ancestors served a Daedric Prince but eventually rebelled.

Your family has spent generations trying to escape that legacy.

Someone connected to your family’s past could still be hunting you.

The Hidden Bloodline

You were raised believing that you were simply human.

Eventually, you discover that one of your parents or ancestors was a Daedra.

This could create an entirely different character arc.

Unique Dialogue

The race could also provide dialogue that other races simply would not receive.

A Daedric NPC might recognize the player immediately.

A priest might react differently.

A vampire might have special dialogue.

A Daedra worshipper might be fascinated by the player.

A person who lost their family to a Daedric invasion might hate the player.

A scholar might desperately want to interview them.

And actual Daedra encountered during the game could react in different ways.

Some might call the player a traitor.

Some might consider them an abomination.

Some might consider them kin.

Imagine encountering a powerful Daedra and having unique dialogue because your character can truthfully say:

“I am Daedra too.”

That could open entirely new role-playing possibilities.

They Shouldn’t Simply Have Every Daedric Power

I would not recommend making the playable race ridiculously overpowered.

They should still feel like a normal Elder Scrolls character mechanically.

They could have a few unique racial abilities, but they should have limitations.

For example, their racial traits could involve things such as:

* Minor resistance to certain magical effects.
* A small bonus to certain forms of magic.
* An innate supernatural ability.
* A unique relationship with Oblivion-related quests.
* Special dialogue options.

But they should still need weapons, armor, spells, food, potions, and normal gameplay mechanics.

The point isn’t to create an overpowered race.

The point is to create a different role-playing experience.

The Moral Possibilities Would Be Incredible

This race could also allow players to explore one of the biggest themes of Elder Scrolls:

Are you defined by what you are, or by what you choose to become?

A character could literally look like a monster and still become one of the greatest heroes in Hammerfell.

Or they could become exactly what everyone feared they would become.

The game could let the player decide.

A Daedric character could save villages.

Protect innocent people.

Join the Fighters Guild.

Become a powerful mage.

Become a thief.

Become an assassin.

Become a vampire.

Become a werewolf, if the lore allows it.

Serve a Daedric Prince.

Reject the Daedra completely.

Or simply live an ordinary life.

That freedom is what makes the concept so appealing.

Imagine Seeing This in Sentinel

Imagine walking through Sentinel at night.

The streets are busy.

Redguards are walking through the marketplace.

Merchants are shouting.

Musicians are playing.

Guards are patrolling.

And then you see them.

A beautiful woman with red skin, long black hair, enormous curved horns, glowing blue eyes, sharp nails, and slightly pointed vampire-like teeth.

She’s simply standing outside a shop talking to a Redguard merchant.

Nobody is attacking her.

Nobody is screaming.

She’s just another person.

Then you leave Sentinel and travel into another part of Hammerfell.

A group of NPCs sees you.

One whispers:

“That’s a Daedra.”

Another responds:

“Keep your distance.”

And suddenly the player realizes that the world doesn’t have one universal opinion about them.

That would make the race feel like an actual part of the world rather than just another character-creation option.

This Could Become One of the Most Memorable Elder Scrolls Races

I genuinely think this could be an incredible addition to The Elder Scrolls VI.

The Elder Scrolls has already allowed players to be humans, elves, beastfolk, and other unusual peoples.

But allowing the player to say:

“I am Daedra — and I don’t have to be evil.”

would be something completely different.

It would fit the series’ obsession with identity, morality, religion, culture, prejudice, free will, and the complicated boundary between mortals and supernatural beings.

And because the game is set in Hammerfell, Sentinel could become the perfect place to establish this population as a believable part of Tamriel.

I would love to see Bethesda take this idea and make it their own.

Don’t simply copy Tieflings.

Take the basic appeal of a beautiful, horned, supernatural humanoid race and combine it with Elder Scrolls lore, Daedric mythology, Oblivion, Hammerfell, Sentinel, and the series’ incredible approach to cultural conflict.

Give them their own history.

Give them their own families.

Give them their own architecture, clothing, traditions, names, religions, and political factions.

Give them people who love them and people who hate them.

Give them NPCs who are terrified of them and NPCs who see absolutely nothing unusual about them.

And most importantly, let the player decide what their Daedric character becomes.

Because the most interesting part of the idea isn’t simply having horns and red skin.

It’s being able to create a character who looks like something Tamriel was taught to fear, but gets to decide for themselves what kind of person they are.

That is exactly the kind of role-playing possibility that I believe could make The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel even more memorable.

Please consider giving us the opportunity to play as Daedra — or a Daedric-descended people — in Hammerfell.

I would absolutely love to create my own horned, red- or blue-skinned Daedric character, walk through the streets of Sentinel, and experience Tamriel from the perspective of someone who looks like a creature from Oblivion but considers themselves a normal person.

Bethesda, please make this happen.

A peaceful Daedric people living in Sentinel could be one of the coolest new additions you could possibly make to The Elder Scrolls VI.

Im really really worried that it won't be on Playstation 5. That's all I have. If not that I'd have to use my 16gb ram laptop which I don't think will be sufficient. Plus I hate pc gaming.

Good thing there's modders and all things considered there probably will be a good need for mods to fill out the game if recent bethesda releases are to be any gauge

also my 2 cents; there's enough silly pseudosatanic shit in fantasy games as is, and don't get me wrong - I don't mind it - it can be charming and daedra are more interesting - but baldurs gate got me pretty fatigued with the whole OMg we're the gaaaaaayest demons everrrrrr hehe uwu penguin tiefling vibe

Bg3 is probably my favorite game of all time. Its interesting how much people complain about it being a "dating Sim" ive spent about 800hrs in that game total and only had one playthrough where I had a relationship with shadowheart. Its as much a dating sim as you make it. At this point I don't even give a flying fuck about whether my camp likes each other. First 500hrs of playthroughs or so I killed La'zael by leaving her to rot in act one.

On the Nautilus id take all her gear, weapons, pots etc and just leave her. Her and shadow heart constantly try and kill each other. I personally like wiping out the Creche which I feared would cause lazel to A) try and kill us in our sleep more and B) just leave the party anyway or worse cause shadowheart to leave the party.

As far as gay demons go I know what you're talking about but never expierenced it because i also go apeshit and that part and kill everyone.

Such a Goddamned masterpiece of a game. Like I said personally I think its the best game ever made. SO, SO many amazing storylines each with dozens of outcomes. Makes every playthrough wildly different.

I am okay with a half daedra, or even a full daedra if it has sexy curves, but I think it'd be wrong to let people play as a dwemer.

Then you need to go to one of those weird hentia sites where you belong. People's kids play these games. It's bad enough that you can play a dwarf.

What its inappropriate because he wants to make a female dwemmer? Its not like it'd be naked. Also that's a tired ass argument for shitty parents that both don't want to have their fragile kids exposed to anything they find inappropriate and simultaneously don't want to man up as a parent and keep thrm from playing rated M games.

The only naked charcters ive seen in a base game is bg3. No way in hell there'd be naked characters in a Bethesda game. If you're on PC practically every game has naked mods. Even hogwarts legacy.

Again if you're a lazy ass parent that wants to not monitor their kids at all and allows them to A) have a computer good enough to play games like hogwarts legacy and B) has the know how to download mods to make characters nude thats 100% your fault as a parent. You worried? Get them a nintendo switch and you won't have to worry about those insidious mods corrupting your child you're too lazy to properly parent.
