I can't believe I didn't see this game sooner. I recently started up Baldur's Gate II again but now I'm downloading this because it looks so damn sweet! I'm running a GeForce 8600 GTS with a dual processor and 3 gigs of RAM, I'm hoping to max it out. How do you guys like it...up's and down's? 2 gigs left to go

Beat it a couple of times.
Very addicting game. if it was multiplayer, It would kick WoW's ass in a heartbeat.

It's an awesome game, but you're gonna want to get some mods for it.
It seems pointless when the monsters level up with you, but you can get a mod that takes care of that. The face maker is also pretty cool. I messed around with just that for a few hours.

Well I've put probably 40-60 hours in it over the past year or so, but it can get really frustrating at times. Not because of the actual gameplay or anything, but bethesda just makes some stupid design decisions. I've run into a couple of bugs that just made the game unplayable at times, hopefully they won't happen to you. There's one that causes it to drop to <1fps whenever it uses a certain shader routine and bethesda doesn't give a shit and just erases any posts on their forums about it. It's also got difficulty balancing problems. For me after a certain point it just became really fucking hard to even kill a single person if you don't level your stats up how they want you to, which I think why even give me the option yunno.
All that aside though, for the most part it's a pretty fucking fun game. I'm just a cynical person so I tend to criticize everything, but hey, I wouldn't have played it so much if it were a bad game yunno.
I'd recommend looking into the mods for it. The only one I use is btmod, it makes the user interface bigger. They unfortunately consolized the UI, the btmod doesn't help too much, but it does make it better. You'll also wanna get the No Psychic guards mod probably too, otherwise you'll often find yourself getting arrested for no apparent reason.

Nah, the way to go is with the immersive mods. They make so you can get more into it, by doing things like making the visible interface let interfering. There are some other mods that add new monsters and weapons and houses and the like. You could pretty much go on forever finding new mods. Just make sure they don't interfere with one another before using them.
You can also get one that adds better female bodies. It's definitely and improvement

I played it for a few weeks but it got boring after I finished all of the thief/assassin missions. Fun game though, I just hate going into Oblivion! It's a scary place

Yeah I was just reading through GameSpot and I plan to get the visual enhancement mods and the other various ones they suggest. I'm anxious to see how well I can run this . I was gonna get Morrowind first but this one's too enticing.

Take my advice and get the Midas Magic mod. Look it up on youtube, it adds like shittons of cool spells like a pet tiger that you feed and it grows up, and you can eventually ride it and magic carpets and meteors and stuff. It's kind of flashy, but it's really well made.

true, but it's still pretty good. i haven't finished it yet. i've been taking a break until i get a nice tv that will make the experiance more enjoyable for me.
i love the elder scrolls franchise though. it's definitely my favorite rpg series. bethesda software is currently working on fallout 3. it's going to look a lot like oblivion only it's set in the fallout world of course. i can't wait to play that!

I definitely plan on giving Morrowind a go after this. I love being able to crank up the graphics on these games now. I had such a piece of junk when they first came out I could barely get a decent framerate but shit I'm anxious to see how Morrowind will look on my PC being that it's older than Oblivion.

morrowind is just a much cooler setting. the world is a lot more alien and interesting. i used to get stoned and just wander around checking shit out for hours at a time. oblivion on the other hand is more of a traditional sort of fantasy setting.
even though morrowind is older it still has pretty decent graphics too. no grass flowing in the breeze though.

Yes! Just finished downloading. Now it's time for a mod hunt. Suggestions? I also want to use a rumble pad instead of the keyboard...I'm assuming it'd be easiest to just look at the PS3 setup for best results?

Dark Brotherhood quest line is the best in the game, if you don't complete those you're wasting your time! Have fun!
