Was curious so I did a quick search -

A $2 per gallon increase in gas prices places an estimated $3,000 to $3,500 in total extra strain on a typical American household each year. This burden is split between direct costs at the pump and indirect price hikes on everyday goods and services

China is clamping down on rare earth exports, as well as drones and battery technology. We’re bout to get bottlenecked in a lot more industries than just defense.


The difference between China and the US, is that China is capable of sustaining a long-term plan, and seeing it through til the end. The divisive politics, combined with a heavy, overbearing corporate interest, that must also content with outside influences (of Israel/AIPAC), make it so the US has schizophrenic policy shifts every 4-8 years (See the green energy subsidies Trump killed), and the only thing we do well long-term, is war.
However, even that is changing. So much of the military budget is spent on waste/fraud/and abuse, that we don't even have enough Patriot Missiles to maintain a battle with Iran for more than a few months.
Donald Trump has really showed our hand, and unfortunately, what he has shown the world is that "we don't have the cards". You best believe China is taking notes.

It effects every facet of our econony. The cost of energy effects every product produced and/or distributed in and out of the country. Not only that, but for people who do gig work, it significantly cuts into their profitability.

Are you really that daft? The price of gas is one of the most significant markers of economic prosperity/stability for any developed nation.

If China weren't stabilizing oil prices, by the way, the entire global financial system would probably have been devastated by now. For anyone paying attention, what Trump has really done here is show Iran how incredibly effective this lever of power is for them, and shown that China has enough oil in reserve to significantly influence the global market for a sustained period of time, far greater than anyone expected.

Some.of.those questions are loaded, you could restrict suburbs and incentivise dense urban apartments and and the increase in units will drive price down in urban areas and drive price up in suburban, so the damn suburbs are paying their share of the utilities and people who want to live downtown can have a cheap place

The survey questions are obviously designed to favour the specific school of economics where the author teaches at (George Mason University) -- it's heavily weighted towards free-market economics, and assumes universally accepted answers to debated questions.

The choice to deliberately avoid counting "not sure" as wrong is also an issue, because it means that someone who doesn't know scores better than someone who thoughtfully disagrees.

The left flunks Econ 101? -- here's a more accurate conclusion imo:
On this particular set of mostly market-oriented economic propositions, conservatives and libertarians were substantially more likely than liberals to give the responses the authors regarded as economically orthodox.
