Uo: General education classes in college are actually more important than your core major classes and if you actually study and learn a thing or two, the information and knowledge learned from those classes actually help you out in the real everyday world and really do make you a more rounded individual compared to the core major classes.

Let me just start from the beginning:

Even though I hated English class, it did teach me to write way way better and have way way better sentence structure than if I never took the class. I remember an assignment we did where we had to come up with the longest run on sentence possible but it still had to be grammatically correct. What I learned from that class definitely helped me in my stem classes with writing and formatting research papers.

I loved my psychology 100 class and I do feel that the basic principles learned in that class have helped me in understanding people better so I can communicate and interact with them more effectively.

Sociology 100 was interesting because it's basically the psychology of groups. I learned a lot about how groups function and about how different societies function.

My basic interpersonal communication 100 class taught me how to communicate more effectively. My argumentation and persuasion class taught me how to come up with my grounds and warrants for an argument and how to State my claim and how to rebute other people's claims. Most people hate public speaking class but I actually loved that class and it taught me how to be more confident in front of a group and also how to present topics to people in an easy to follow way.

Art history taught me to appreciate art way better than I did previously.

But the stem classes that I've been taking for my major have all been just a bunch of bullshit. I mean, they call it a bullshit degree because it's all a bunch of bullshit. What practical purpose would calculating the volume of oxygen inside of a balloon have on my life? Did I have to calculate the number of hydronium atoms in a solution? It's all very arbitrary.

I had a chemical engineering friend a long time ago and he had lots of patents and he himself said that you don't learn anything important in school, it's all a bunch of bullshit and that's why they call it a BS degree.

The pathology exam that I'm going to be taking next month is a bunch of bullshit too because everyone in the industry says that after you take the exam you will never need to recall 90% of the information you learned. Everything is procedural and you're just following a protocol. If you can follow a complex recipe then you can perform the procedures in my field.

That's probably true with most certification exams. Once you get into the field you are not going to be quizzed on trivial information that could be looked up in a reference book or sop booklet.
