The Dead vs. Nader
    #2960405 -

?Don't vote for Nader. I know him. He's an a?hole?

- The Grateful Dead's Bob Weir to Deadheads at a concert in Boston on Saturday.

All I really know is that those few years saddled me with a faith in the redemptive potential of the imagination which, however flat, stale and unprofitable the world seems to me now, I cannot for the life of me shake.

:rotfl:
i met nader
he sat like two rows behind me
he was cool
i didn't want to bother him to much, he seemed really aloof
or muddled
like when he left, he left his briefcase behind and i had to run after him with it
maybe bobby and nader got into a fight circa 1968 or something?
or maybe bobby is just being realistic?

That's funny, I can't believe they would say anything like that either, that is pushing it... Still funny as hell to me though.

Yeah I wouldn't expect to hear that. I like Nader. I voted for him 4 years ago but I won't this year. Bob has always seemed like a hardcore Democrat. 4 years ago he was tellin the audience to vote Gore at his Ratdog shows. Boo to that. Gore is one slimey mo fo.

This is the first I've ever heard of the dead taking a political stance on stage....I definately don't remember it ever happening when jerry was around.

I like the voting thing but definitly not the picking of sides, I don't care about their views but I don't want to hear who to vote come from the mic either, I would of booed.

No. You're right- throwing stones was the furthest they ever went it seems like.  I still find it hard to believe!  It's good he is letting his fans in on his politics, I wish more public figures wouldn't be afraid to, but I am surprised he said that.

I have voted for Nader every time for the record. I really really like him.

Eh. A vote for Nader is a vote for Bush in the end. I don't like Kerry, but he's gotta be better than Bush. Just trying to be realistic, as well. Our best hope to get Bush out is Kerry.

At the SPAC show on Sunday, one of them (don't rightly remember who) said, "Remember, a vote for Nader is a vote for Haliburton."

Made me laugh.

:rotfl:  That's really funny...I'm always leaving stuff behind and losing it and it's funny that a politician does it too.

yeh that was funny
the interesting thing is it was a flight on Southwest Airlines, which has no first class, etc.
he was riding with everybody
no one else who is running for president would have the balls to do that...
he seems like a great guy
but at the same time we must unite to defeat the great evil

A Dead concert transcends politics. Hopefully it stays this way.
